The Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Irvine is a graduate university. Despite the midwestern city in its name, it’s located in the Los Angeles area. Because the Irvine campus features a large Latinx population, The Chicago School emphasizes multicultural experiences in its classes and professional preparation. Irvine is also home to The Chicago School’s counseling center which gives students a chance to complete hands-on training for their degrees while also learning about the experience of running a professional mental health clinic.
The Chicago School has great teachers who are active in their field and knowledgeable about current treatments and legal issues. However, some programs are only offered as online-blended, meaning less class time and more independent study, which may work great for some, but not so much for others. Teachers are generally supportive and there to help, but time management is a definite must to get through the Masters or PsyD programs.
