Expect culture shock if you are not from the area. New Orleans is one of the most unique cities in the world and it can be very daunting to explore outside the "Tulane Bubble" because of it. Additionally, such a competitive school requires you to work outside your comfort zone. Staff is limited so you have to fight to stand out on campus. Don't be afraid to assert yourself hear, because someone else will take your opportunities if you don't. Lastly, do not let the party-school reputation narrow your expectations for social life as an undergrad. Alcohol is a defining characteristic, but it is not the only characteristic. Your best memories will be made while sober.

Keep an open mind and try new things, both on campus and in New Orleans! There are times, depending on your major, when you may be overwhelmed or confused. Develop relationships with your professors, talk to them outside of class, and try to make friends who help you to stay accountable.

Just like going to any college, I would recommend being yourself. Though that might've been hard in high school, college campuses are larger and you will find your group and your niche - but only if you're true to yourself. Also, DO get off campus often and explore the local (safe) neighborhoods. There is always something to do in New Orleans, and I promise you will find so many interesting things by having an open mind.
