Explore the city. Take the street car, it is really cheap and very unique. Not that many students take it so you get to see the people of the city a little bit more. The french quarter, and more specifically Bourbon Street, are very overrated and tourist-y. You really only need to go once. Frenchman's street is on the other side of the city from campus, but it is a unique, low-key jazz and food hub, its the local's french quarter. The garden district and greater uptown area, where campus is located, is great for food and shopping. Magazine street, Audubon Park, and Freret Street are probably the best places to explore as a student. I would say overall, food is the best thing to explore in the city. On around campus, Frat parties are the norm. Also, the Boot is an 18+ bar that has lots of dancing.

Food festivals, parades, Audubon Park, and the Mercedez-Benz Superdome are among some favorites for entertainment and fun. New Orleans never fails to have something fun and unique going on.

literally anything- freret and maple st have a lot of cute restaurants and bars that are a walkable distance from campus. audubon park is right next door to tulane and is great to explore or take a bike ride through. the street car can take you downtown to explore the quarter or frenchman st, and its only $1.25, which beats an uber any day.

You're in New Orleans, the possiblities are endless. Go to Audubon, which is right across the street. Walk to the Tree of Life. Go to the Zoo. Take the streetcar downtown and make a day of the Quarter. Go to City Park or the New Orleans Museum of Art. Then of course nightlife-wise there is the infamous Boot, which has a great happy hour.

The party scene is huge here. There is always a party, whether in the numerous Greek houses or in the bars around campus. And while the amount of people who party hard seems to be the majority, if you search you can find countless clubs, activities, volunteer opportunities, or exploring options to pursue for fun, instead of just drinking and drugs.
