definitely network and get known because it's extremely easy to get bored here. being to yourself isn't going to work at this school. you're always going to have to depend on someone for something especially underclassmen. if you can please visit before hand so you're not rudely awakened at freshman orientation. seriously. get a mini-team with people in your major and become close with upperclassmen in your major. you might come up on old notes, tests, cheap books etc.

Always make sure to visit if you have a chance to get a feel for the university especially during open house when all the schools/colleges on campus are represented as well as extracurricular activities.

This a great university with many majors. The curricular activities are great and give insight towards world views. It's friendly here and you get a chance to meet students from different backgrounds.

Apply for a as many scholarships as you can while keeping your GPA up so you can qualify for a decent merit scholarship from the school. Also take the time to come and visit the beautiful campus some time.
