The University of Alaska Southeast is a part of the University of Alaska system, and a public institution that focuses on the sciences and humanities. The campus features the Anderson Science building, where students learn about marine transportation and biology. Additionally, the campus houses the William A. Egan Library, student housing, and the student recreation center, which includes a rock climbing wall. UAS also has a Technical Education Center, which consists of technical, construction and mechanical labs, and a mine simulator. Lastly, UAS showcases an eagle totem pole, gifted to the university’s native and rural student center.
