If your looking for a great learning experience, there is something important that you have to know, it all depends on YOU. So if you are, the advice I would give you and stuff you've probably already heard is to get to know your professor, research beyond on stuff that you're unfamiliar with. These two suggestions make such a great difference in any school you might choose to go, and here at UC Davis, the professors are amazing. (TIP: go to ratemyprofessors.com to look at the prof's review, this really saves you from a dull class!)

UC Davis provides a large number of opportunities for first generation students, fly out program (for accepted students), and a summer bridge program; I utilized these opportunities to gain insight and help from UC Davis staff. At UC Davis, there are huge amounts of resources for extracurricular, such as volunteer involvement, internships, work study, and clubs. Finally, UC Davis is an environmentally friendly school filled with thousands of bikes as a form of transportation and a substitute for cars.

UC Davis is a rigorous institution that holds its students to high standards, but the teachers generally care about their students success, even in large lecture classes. The dining commons is amazing and has options for vegan and gluten free students. The campus has a focus on being eco friendly, with nearly all student students owning bikes and there being an arboretum on campus.

My sister is attending as a biology major at Davis. One thing she participated in that I really liked was the Davis Panhellenic Program. She got to 'rush' for 8 sororities all at once.

mellow atmosphere that allows you to separate and mitigate a work, school, and social schedule easily. everything is local and withing walking distance - not even kidding. one of the better ucs for the price when it comes to national ranking.
