You can always walk to Yosemite Lake from campus. On Campus, my favorite thing to do is study or nap in the Science and Engineering building 2 (SE2) where the building is made almost completely of glass. Studying there is cool because every wall and table can be used as a white board. Often we have massive study sessions in there and it can get pretty loud. Also, the Library is Unique here because You do not need to be quiet. There is a massive "Quiet Room" on the top story, but everywhere else you can be loud.

Honestly what I did was stay with my roommates most of the time. I met one of my best friends there. We could also walk to a lake that's a few minutes from the school which is always so peaceful.

There are many clubs and organizations on campus that host events to entertain, if not anyone can start a club or organization, it's not too difficult to do so.

The campus itself has attractions such as a gym or sporting events. The surrounding area is pretty bland but Yosemite is only an hour or so away and San Francisco is only about two hours away. So, during the week, you can find little things to do around or on campus and then go to San Francisco or Yosemite over the weekend.

There are so many little workshops that can be pretty fun that take you out of your comfort zone and help you meet new people. There are also events that hold information booths that mix learning with fun.

There is a lake walking distance from the university. It is beautiful during summer. You can visibly see the tree leaves change color from season to season, unlike the trees in LA. You can take buses into town. There are, I think, three theaters in town. Although the buses aren't very reliable here, they can take you around town. You can go shopping at ROSS, Target, Sears. There aren't many stores here but there are a few good places to eat, like Panera Bread.
