While UCR is primarily a commuter school, it can get a bit lonely over the weekends! However, there is plenty to do to keep occupied. Luckily, the amount of commuters can often strengthen the bond between those who choose to stay. If this will include you, take note of these awesome activities. The University Village, right off campus, offers students a variety of dining options, Boba, a record store, and plenty more to entertain at all hours! The Galleria mall is also off campus and is one of the biggest malls in this area. Lastly, downtown Riverside is a great place to explore and includes antique stores, an art museum, the incredible Mission Inn (a very fancy hotel) and much, much more. On campus, there are constantly activities happening as well. Many students love to hike to the C as a group, a mountain right off campus with the letter C on top. UCR also offers weekly activities. From stress-reliever activities to craft-making and more, there is always something going on at the UCR campus. Clubs are pretty important to join during one's first year and can offer students plenty of activities and events during the week about things they genuinely care about. Before I came to UCR, I heard there was not much to do. However, this is very far from true. You just have to keep your eyes open and get yourself out there!

If you're living on campus, the weekends can get pretty boring, but that's the great thing about Riverside; it's so close to everything! UCR is only an hour's drive from beaches, mountains, huge cities, deserts, everything! Not to mention, within Riverside, there's plenty of things to do. The opportunities are nearly endless. Riverside students also get to ride the bus for free to anywhere in Riverside county.

There is many things to do, the first is the recreational center that has a lot of classes and activites. next would just be to utilize the resources in the hall, there's pool tables, air hockey, a smaller work out room, and more.

Near the campus there is a plaza named University Village were there is a movie theater and food. Everything there is pretty cheap and many can go with friends to hangout or just release some stress from classes. Also, the Riverside bus is free to UCR students, which saves a lot of money. One can go to downtown Riverside for sight-seeing or to the mall.

Go to Moreno Valley or Tyler Mall. Rush a sorority or fraternity. There is not much out here so you have to go out and make your own fun.

Well theirs the bad part, not knowing the area and lack of transportation limits your fun; however, there are clubs to join to do on your free time which is a good way to make new friends. There is the village with many restaurants to go hang out with friends or mountains to go hiking. The school always offers evens which two big ones are Heat and Spring Splash which are a must to attend.

During the week, there is so much to do on campus. There's always events on Wednesdays at noon, workshops, tournaments and more. However, once the weekend rolls in, life on campus and even in the surrounding areas are completely dead. Everyone seems to always leave for the weekend. However, what I use to do for fun was go hike the C or mount Rubidoux. You could also go to the movie theater that is right across the street from campus at the University Village. Or you could go to Tyler Mall, although it is pretty far for students with no cars and on budgets. Get creative!
