UCSB has every aspect you'd expect from a beachfront university. It's very laid back and open to all types of people. There is a place for everyone here.…
The neighboring town of Isla Vista (IV) is as much a part of the school experience as the UCSB campus itself. IV is the student-dominated town neighboring the campus. Situated on the cliffs above the beach, IV is a beautiful, laid-back town that I have personally found I fit into perfectly along with fellow students from all kinds of previous hometowns. Santa Barbara as a whole has been an ideal new home for me and I enjoy all parts of it weather shopping in our downtown area, hiking in the gorgeous nearby mountains, or running on the beaches, it has something for everyone! Be prepared to feel lucky every day waking up in SB... and the feeling never fades.
Read MoreUCSB has the best campus by far. UCSD has a spread out campus and classes aren't very accessible by bike, but at UCSB, the campus is very compacted and it takes ten minutes at the most to walk from one end to the other. It also has numorous bike paths which makes getting to class from off-campus a breeze. The weather is always perfect, never above 85 and rarely below 60. And the beach is less than a ten minute walk away from anywhere in the capus village (Isla Vista).

People are friendly (except during finals) and welcome strangers in there homes all the time. The beach is a beautiful sight to witness during all your day-to-day activities.
