Definitely a party scene if you're into that - frat life as well as lots of parties in the dorms and surrounding apartments. Lots of non-alcoholic/party alternatives in that you are in the wonderful of city to Chicago and you can explore it as much as you want. UChicago probably has a lot less fun programming than your typical college though, and it's not the typical college experience.

There is plenty to do for fun here, whether it's joining one of the hundreds of RSOs on campus, going to the Logan center to catch an art or music performance, or hanging out with friends. UChicago is not where fun goes to die! Rather, it's a place where fun is interspersed amongst hours of rigorous work. Point is, you won't be bored here, and there will plenty of opportunities to take a break and let your endorphins run rampant and have your dopamine levels recharge before hitting the books again!

Its tons of odd clubs and groups, the school is right by the beach and the museum of science and industry, and haper theater ($6 movie tickets and $3 in the morning) is practically right up the street.

Chicago is a city with incredible neighborhood. Make sure to explore every single one, find the ones you like, and go back to enjoy yourself. Art museums, shows, restaurants, views, tours, bars, clubsâ?¦ the options are endless. Hyde Park itself offers plenty with the Museum of Science and Industry, great views at The Point (on the lakeshore), restaurants galore (Get shakes from the Medici!), and an ice rink in the winter. If the fraternity scene is more of your thing, UChicago has plenty to offer with regards to that; every weekend some frat is hosting a party and many dorms also host their own gatherings.

The quirky / nerdy culture makes for some pretty great social activity. Personally, the improve troupes sound the most appealing to me, in addition to theatre for non-majors. There's a club for everything, though.

There are all sorts of cultural events on and around campus. The campus is right by the lake, so one can go biking along the shore or maybe fishing or boating if one can find the necessary gear. The city itself is of course fun, but getting out of Hyde Park can be inconvenient.
