Am learning a lot
I'm learning a lot because of the great student to teacher ratios, the classes aren't as huge as the University of Houston's classes which allows you more one on one time with your professors, which will be really helpful when you need that letter of recommendation. Also professors love doing research with students so if you plan to be a Graduate Student right now is the time to start researching with those professors.
Am enjoying being here
Even though this school isn't given much credit for the college experience it has opportunities to join really great clubs hosts events that allow enough student interaction and encourages meeting new people through the free food socials it has. It's also located right in downtown so you can find all the great clubs and restaurants near here. You can even take the metro rail to go to the underground Mall. The only thing i don't like is the long drive which is about an hour, so if you live far i would suggest taking the bus.
Bang for the buck
Probably the best thing about the school is it's half the cost of the University of Houston. Great for students who don't have the financial security many others do and returning students. There's also great scholarships offered, and if your a STEM major (science, technology, engineering, or math) you can get a full ride scholarship with the Scholar's Academy which is an academically competitive program in the College of Sciences and Technology that promotes scholarship and student success for undergraduate students
Tips for prospective students
Keep in mind that this is a University so there will be lots of hard work along with fun, even if it's not considered one of the best in the world, with the best college experience it does provide what you need. 1. Work hard 2. Don't play around especially if it's your first year because it'll be hard to pick yourself up again 3. Always remind yourself why your there or you may forget (hopefully it's to get an education not party!)
and have fun :D
Great for these types of students
Students who are not financially blessed
Students who want to go somewhere near Downtown
Students who have to drive to school. (like me)
Students who want their whole tuition paid if they're a STEM major (me as well )
Returning students
