The main reason I picked UMD was because Duluth has so many great features to the city. Lake Superior is absolutely breathtaking at any time of day, and there are many great adventures to be had around it. I've mainly gone hiking in Duluth's numerous nature parks (some are even right on campus), went down to the lift bridge in Canal Park, drove to Gooseberry Falls, went to Spirit Mountain for snowboarding and the alpine coaster, swam and played beach volleyball at Park Point, gone to plays at the playhouse, toured the haunted Glensheen mansion, went shopping at the mall, and gambled at some of the casinos down on Superior Street. Duluth has so much to offer for anyone, even those who do not love nature (I never used to, until I came to Duluth). The greatest thing to do in Duluth is visit Enger Tower. You will get an incredible view of the city, and you will fall in love all over again with the town you live in. Being in a town you love is incredibly important to choosing the right college for you, and there's always something to do (usually pretty cheap too) in Duluth.

Duluth is a cultured and artsy town offering plenty of things for college students to do like skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, hiking, biking, symphony going, theatrical productions, laser-tag, mini-golf and more! Most arts performances offer student discounts on tickets. Spirit mountain offer student discount season passes and hosts weekly college nights. Snowboarding, skiing, clubs, student groups, great local businesses like the Zinema downtown Duluth with a restaurant and an inexpensive movie theater.

There are a lot of activities and clubs that are fun on campus, but most people have fun going to a house party on the weekend. While I'm not a drinker or a partier, I find there isn't a lot of fun activities to do.

There is so much to do in Duluth. Canal Park is the place where most people go. They have a lot of restaurants and it is fun watching the big boats come in off the lake from the pier. There are many parks, a casino, and lots of other options. You won't get bored.
