umd is a fantastic but underrated school. not many people know about it outside of minnesota and wisconsin, and even fewer consider it during their college search, but it is a wonderful school nonetheless. it has miles of trails, a great city down the hill, awesome sports, good people, and best of all it is cheap.

The housing office has no sympathy towards helping students have a happy experience here. I have had multiple issues with roommates and they do nothing to resolve them. They are very hypocritical in the sense of saying you are able to buy out the portion of your room if your roommate moves out and then throw a new roommate into your room, and not allowing you to have the option to buy it out. Everyone deserves to feel happy and safe in their new home, but here in Duluth I have had nothing but an awful experience.

There is always something to do on campus or in Duluth. There are numerous campus organizations and everyone is involved in at least one organization. The campus is mid-sized but still has the small town feel which was important for me since I came from a very small town.

Beautiful Campus in the with all sorts of outdoorsy activities all year round. Academics are not the most competitive, but The outdoors community is very welcoming and friendly. Greek Life is not the biggest here, but it is slightly cultish.

UMD is the perfect size for students looking for personal classes with a big city feel. The professors care about your achievement, and make a strong effort to give you the grade you deserve. You don't have to go too far to find someone willing to help you out or be your friend.

A middle sized school trying to feel like a small school but with the benefits of a big school. Lots of people and lots of buildings so make sure to stay with your tour guide and have a map. Only one building isn't connected so you don't need a coat.

Good for people into the outdoors and also for people who want to party a lot. If you don't want to party it might be harder to make friends.
