    Campus Safety

I never feel unsafe on campus

Great for these types of students

This campus is designated for health professions. You must be aware that this is not your typical undergraduate campus. Its a mixture of graduate and undergraduate programs in one campus, intertwined in a medical center.

    Food and Dining

Not too many options to eat here on the campus or around. Its probably best to bring your lunch or stick to the 3 on campus dinning options.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms. You pretty much have to find housing on your own.

    Academic Rigor

I would like to think that the academics is rigorous and among the top of the nation.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are from out of state make sure you are very hands on with your situation. I did not receive too much help on accommodation and moving to Oklahoma but its not that hard to find your way around if you stay persistent and on top of things. Enrollment and admissions must be done in a timely manner. No extended deadlines. Even if you don't think you meet admission requirement, apply anyways you very well could be a great applicant.

    In three sentences

The campus resembles a small knit community. Large majority of the staff is helpful and courteous. The campus is beautiful and well kept. It almost feels like you are part of a big family. The Sooner Family that is. Technology is up to date and a large majority of classes are electronic based.

    What to do for fun

OUHSC often has events in which students can mingle and get to know each other better. There are a lot of charitable events that take place at OU. If you're near OU's main campus in Norman, then going to a football game to support the Sooners is a must! OU football gives students a sense of comradery and quickly invites new students to become a part of old traditions. Bricktown is a great place to grab a bite to eat as well as enjoy a night on the river walk, hear your favorite local band, or see a movie.

    Food and Dining

In addition to the food selection offered in the student union, the OUHSC is close to the exciting and popular local (and touristy) area known as Bricktown. There is a wide variety of unique eats in this area!

    Dorm Life

This OU campus doesn't offer dorm life, but students are aware before attending!

    Academic Rigor

OU is known for their challenging coursework, which only promotes ultimate student success in life after college.

    Tips for prospective students

As this is my first semester at OUHSC, I suggest getting to know the surrounding area, bus schedules, the classrooms, and staff.

    In three sentences

The OU Health Sciences Center is located in beautiful, downtown Oklahoma City near historic sites and the state capital. It is filled with incredibly welcoming, helpful, and friendly staff, all of whom are more than happy to point you in the right direction if you are lost! Because this campus is filled with other healthcare professionals, students feel right at home in this environment when attending school here.

    Campus Safety

The school has their own police department that's constantly patrolling and the school takes reports of assault very seriously.

    What to do for fun

There's a lot of seminars and events going on. In many cases, you'll be torn between which seminar to squeeze in during lunch time.

    Food and Dining

There's several fast food places, but it's just easier to bring your own.

    Dorm Life

They have a gated apartment complex, but it's harder to get into. Expensive, too, but well worth the money.

    Academic Rigor

My first semester will have six courses, 18 credit hours, and at least 20 hours of n site training.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early, especially if you're going into the graduate programs. Keep a list of deadlines because they'll sneak up on you very quickly.

    In three sentences

The campus grounds are massive, clean, and full of vibrant gardens. People are friendly and willing to offer advice on classes. Everyone wants you to succeed so don't hesitate to ask for help.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of parks in the near vincinity. La Fortune park has a great trail, outdoor park and picnic tables. Right across the street from the OUHSC Tulsa campus , there is a large shopping mall, that includes a movie theater and gym. A few miles away there are popular night life areas such as the Blue Dome District, Cherry Street, and Brookside. Most all locals can direct you on how to get there.

    Food and Dining

I also don't know what the food and dining is like, because I have not had a meal/drink there. I start school this June.

    Dorm Life

I don't know what the dorm life is like because I have opted to live off campus and don't know anyone who lives in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

For the accelerated program, the academic rigor is fairly high. Most students will not be able, or are not recommended to work at all outside the program. The weekends will be needed for research, papers and study time.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply to school early if you want to attend the accelerated BSN program. Visit the campus and make sure you feel comfortable there before classes start. Ask a lot of questions and get as much information from staff before making a decision.

    In three sentences

They offer great medical programs. They have a newly renovated campus. They have accelerated programs that can offer a valuable degree in shorter time.
