Am learning a lot
While some may feel a small town college atmosphere may be lacking a social aspects of bigger and more well known colleges, I think this makes it easier to learn. There is a better professor to student ratio. You aren't tripping over other students for a chance to speak/ask the professor a question. Its easier to get email questions answered. Also, the professors are very understanding and quick to answer questions/ teach you the course, no matter how long it takes.
Am enjoying being here
I do not live on campus, as I live at home. But, it is close to family. they often have many sporting events/ student community events to attend. Yes, it is a small town, but this is better for those of us who enjoy the country. Also, its a lot more quiet, and therefore you can study more easily.
Bang for the buck
This school definitely gives you a lot of education for the money you give them. Not only that, but you can apply to several scholarships to pretty much get you college cheaper. it is however (like most students) more expensive for out of state, even if you are only coming from Point Pleasant, WV.
Tips for prospective students
The only bad thing I have to say - Rio Grande is famous for their Rio Run Around. Be sure to call ahead to offices to make sure that is the office you must go to. Go to classes first before buying books. Make sure you ask about the transfer from being a Rio Grande Community College student to University of Rio Grande student. And if you're going into the Nursing program, make sure you strive for a high score on your ACT.
Great for these types of students
Country loving, quiet types; as well as those staying at home in other times. Also, Rio Grande is located only about 15 minutes from Gallipolis, which offers entertainment as well. Also, West Virginia is close by, so if you would like to go into the city on the weekends that is available too!!

This school is a good one. I've gone to several different schools and this is my favorite one so far. I would rate them high.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved in the activities. There is so much to do here, even though it is a small campus.
Academic Rigor
Some classes are easier than others, but thats the way it is at every school. There are alot of people around willing to help you if you need it.
Dorm Life
Most people are nice. The rooms are good. Can control your own heat or air. The Resident Advisers and other people are always coming up with activities for those on campus to do.
Food and Dining
The food has its days where it could be better, but over all, it is pretty good. There is the buffet cafeteria and then cafe to eat on campus. The cafe has many choices, plus daily specials. It is pretty good. There is also Bob Evans and a McDonald's within walking distance.
What to do for fun
We have an area called the Red Zone that has TV's, pool, Wii, and a big screen for movies. There is the gym, and pool, and other areas in the gym to play games. There is always something going on campus, whether it is a big outdoor movie, free bowling, or a dance - there is rarely a dull moment
Bang for the buck
University of Rio Grande is my 4th collage. Yet, it has become my favorite one quickly. I have only been here since the fall semester and I love it here. Right away, everyone made me feel welcomed.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
The Greeks paint the rock. There is a huge rock outside the cafeteria that is decorated and painted differently almost every week.. You never know what you will see next on that rock and it makes it interesting to notice.
Great for these types of students
This school is great for any type students, especially those interested in education. The education program is an amazing one, as are several of the other ones.
Clubs and Activities
This school has a variety of ways to get people involved. They have multiple clubs and activities. There are the Greek organizations, religious groups, choirs, bands, student senate, and so much more. Almost anyone can find a group to join, and if they cant, they can probably create one
Greek Life
There are several sororities and fraternities on campus. They have a wide variety of people - it is not just the pretty popular people like in the movies. Even if your not in a Greek organization, they make you feel welcomed and included. They try to find ways to include everyone. I've been to schools with Greeks before, but this one is the only one where I felt I could connect and be friends with the Greeks, even though I am not a Greek.
Campus Safety
The campus police is right across the street from one of the dorms. Any time you need them, they are there for you. They watch the grounds every night - and day - and even go through the dorms when called. They make sure everyone is safe and that nothing bad happens to any of the students.

Am learning a lot
The art instructors at this university are full of knowledge and inspiration.
Am enjoying being here
Campus is small and in a remote area.
Bang for the buck
The first couple of years are cheap and worth it, however tuition jumps up your junior year.
Tips for prospective students
Apply here and enjoy your first couple of years for at least getting your generals out of the way. If you really enjoy the campus and university, by all means, get your 4 yr degree here.
Great for these types of students
The art department is a lot of fun and you can learn some great techniques from the seasoned professors.
