Campus has so much to offer. You can join or create clubs/organizations you are interested in. There is almost always something going on too. They have movies every weekend in Russell House. My first year they even had a hypnotist come and some popular MTV comedians! Just pay attention to dates!

Nightlife is a big part of fun here as well as Greek life (socials, greek tailgate, etc.) However, it is not the only option for off campus fun. (I in fact haven't participated in either) As a freshman during the first few weeks after move-in, it may appear Greek life dominates while everyone is going through Rush, however you will quickly realize there are several alternatives. -Vista Shopping District (downtown, walking distance from campus) -Russell House movie theater (FREE and on campus) -Columbia art museum, Columbia zoo, several cultural festivals downtown (ex: Latin festival, Greek festival, SC Pride) -Charlotte and Charleston being a short car ride away -JOIN AN ON CAMPUS ORG!

It's in the middle of a big city so there are many different things to do. There are clubs, museums, galleries, dance performances, musical events, etc. There are also many different extracurricular groups to join and plenty of sports games to watch.

Between all of the great sporting events, city festivals and fairs, school events and shows, there's always something fun to do.

There are parties, Greek life, 5 Points, the Vista, events sponsored by the University and student clubs, movies in the theater in Russell House, and many more. There is always something going on both on-campus and around campus.

There are almost always events happening on campus. The university plans lots of activities for students to attend and almost all of them are free. This past semester they brought in a comedian from SNL, a hypnotist, and an illusionist just to name a few. Getting involved also helps to provide a lot of fun opportunities. Joining different clubs, a fraternity or sorority, and meeting new people will definitely keep you busy. Of course Carolina football is one of the most highly anticipated events on campus. Around football season there are always tailgates and lots of other fun events happening. The Strom is an amazing workout facility that has top notch exercise equipment, a giant rock wall and a beautiful outdoor pool. The Vista, 5 Points, and downtown Columbia are all within walking distance to the campus and offer great places to go out, eat and shop.

The SEC party scene is one of a kind. Tailgating before games has been taken to new heights by USC, the university that bought the state fairgrounds simply for tailgating purposes. Williams Brice Stadium seats 80,000 and the Carolina-Clemson rivalry gets more intense than the Yankee-Red Sox one up on the other side of the Mason Dixon. In addition to the football games and pre/after parties, the popular places to be are the Vista and Five Points. Located on opposite sides of campus from each other, the Vista caters to higher tastes and higher budgets. Five points isn't where you'd take your Mama for parents' weekend, but they have much better deals for the bars, which makes it a popular spot. The Vista has nice restaurants and more upscale bars, where you'll find adults out of college hanging out.

There is never ending fun at USC! A game is always going on that all students can go to for free. Whether it's football, soccer, or baseball there is never a dull weekend. Columbia also offers so many great activities like parades, festivals, and markets.

Football games are absolutely amazing, and tailgating is just as fun as the game itself. We are in a city, so there is pretty much always something to do and it is usually in walking distance.
