The campus is built into the mountainside and this provides many opportunities for outdoor activities year round. Also, as it is right next to downtown Salt Lake City, it is easy to find things to to and go see downtown. As a student at the University of Utah, there are also many discounts to various activities both on and off campus.

You can go hiking and biking in the fall and spring. In the winter you can go skiing or snowboarding, and its all less than an hour away. There are concerts and events going on weekly around the area. The school football team draws a huge crowd during the home games and the fans go crazy. There's no lack of fun stuff going on, only a lack of time.

There is almost always something going on on campus. There are concerts, plays, sports tournaments, tons of different activities through the RHA, such as ice skating, movies, food, and more. There is tons of stuff to do off campus in the city as well. There are tons of great places to eat, shows to see, clubs. We're also close to a lot of ski resorts and there is great hiking when it's warm. A great tradition is to hike up to the U on the mountainside. There is something for everyone.

Utah is known for it's outdoor sports, like hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. If that's your kind of thing, definitely look into the Outdoor Recreation program. They do tons of incredible stuff. If music is more your thing, there are monthly Lunchbox Concert Series at the student union. We also host a concert during Fall and Spring semesters, Redfest and the Grand Kerfuffle. These concerts usually include bigger acts like Karmin, Hoodie Allen, Wiz Kalifa, and Andy Grammer. There is also an incredible local music scene in Salt Lake that you can catch at places like The Shred Shed, Kilby Court, or the Urban Lounge. Larger national tours are also coming through Salt Lake all the time at venues like The Complex, In the Venue, and The Depot which are all fantastic. Also check out the Twilight Concert Series for the first few weeks of fall semester. If you like shopping, there's two malls that are easy to access through Trax. City Creek is our newest and is both outdoor and indoor; it's a little more upscale. Gateway is the other and is on the opposite side of town but is still tons of fun! It's also right next to the music venues I mentioned above. There are farmers markets usually at the beginning of the fall semester and end of spring.

The fun here is unlimited. As I stated above, I suggest getting involved with extracurricular activities. I have found these to be the highlight of my college career.

I spend most of my time off campus. The mountains are amazing. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful place to get away from school and spend time in nature. Make sure to go up Millcreek Canyon and Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. There are a lot of fun things to do around Salt Lake City. Clark Planetarium is interesting. City Creek Center has a lot of historical background and shopping. Temple Square has a lot of rich history. Downtown in general is very fun. The Off-Broadway Theater has quirky shows for those light-hearted readers. There are a lot of concerts and clubs. The opportunities are endless.

The recreational activities are by the the most interesting thing on campus. I mean come on, you have the mountains at your doorstep, full of trails, rivers, etc.
