Most of the dorms are relatively close to a gym (this includes all first-year dorms), so there's really no excuse to skip a workout. Additionally, there are many musical ensembles for students to join, some of which are more casual in nature. There are also a huge selection of clubs, and Madison House, the student volunteer program, is an excellent way to spend time. If you're a partier, there is a large Greek life scene on Grounds centered around Rugby Road, though many clubs have their own houses and throw parties. Finally, intramural sports are free to join and offer all kinds of different sports.

There is so much to do at UVA and in Charlottesville for fun: great restaurants, parties, philanthropy and club events, etc. This part of Virginia is beautiful, and there are great hikes in the area and lots of ways to get outdoors. Downtown Charlottesville is about a 10 minute drive from Grounds and has a quaint main street. There is always something to get involved in at UVA and so many great people to meet!

Charlottesville is a great town and there's lots to do on or off campus. I prefer the campus scene, but there is always something going on in downtown Charlottesville. The Corner is a favorite among UVA students as is the university's amphitheater for major events.

Go garden at morven gardens, nestled in a quiet farm half and hour away from campus. Go apple-picking the the local orchard; go to hump back mountai nand swim or hike or camp out with good friends; go study in the lounge with a study buddy when everyone else is busy going out--you'll get a lot done or not, but it's all for you! Go read in some beautiful little spot under a huge, ancient tree and feel the beauty of being outside, go to the biggest Jacuzzi on the east coast (Aquatic Fitness Center is where it's at!), go on a run out doors (hey, it's hilly--good for your legs!), go to Harriss Teeter at 3 AM (24 hour super-market? YES). There's so much to do for fun here, just stay safe, and remember that you're going to find all kinds of fun outside of the usual frat and party scene!! Also, you can always take a trip downtown to do some shopping, ride courtesy of the Free Trolley (it's green and old-fashioned themed, so it's pretty neat).

There are many free parties here at University of Virginia. If you are into frat parties and whatnot, Rugby Road near the Corner is where many frat houses and sorority houses are located. Also, many organizations like the Asian organizations hold their own parties, but welcomes everyone to come! If you are not into parties, then there are free and not-free events such as A cappella concerts, comedy concerts, choral concerts, sports games!
