In an urban location, there seem to always be things going on. I find myself going to parties sometimes because of the fact that every college has a huge party scene. Besides regular college parties, there are plenty of school clubs to get involved in, thereâ??s a huge visual and performing arts scene (plays and recitals going on, museums and galleries to visit), there are lots of food places to go out to, Belle Isle is a good outdoor-sy place to visit, and there are near-constant on-campus functions if your classes arenâ??t keeping you busy enough.

There is so much to do at VCU and Richmond. Every day, VCU sends out a TelegRAM that tells you about upcoming events on campus. Because there are so many clubs on campus, many of them hold events that are free students to attend. Many of these events have music, food, and free stuff. During welcome week, there are sooooooooooo many things to do. For example, Good Clear Sound, VCU's slam/spoken poetry team, holds open mic night and the Ram Grand Slam. Amendment and Poictesme, two of VCU's literary and art journals have book release parties with food and those published in the journals reading their work aloud. The Dance Department holds showcases throughout the year that students can attend. The Commons has free monthly movie showings in the commons theatre. Sometimes the theatre department puts on plays that the students can attend for little or no cost. Once again, many of these events involve food and free stuff. Richmond also has many things going on that are free to attend. They had a Pride Parade, Cherry Blossom Festival, Zine Fest. Also, a lot of students walk to Belle Isle when it's nice/hot outside.

VCU offers so may things that you can do for fun. They have events where you play games, sing karaoke, do fashions shows, and so much more. Outside of what VCU offers, make your own fun. Get yourself a radio and jam it out like I do. Makes some friends and take a trip out and see the city. Get a group to watch movies with or even just sit and talk. I am in the theater program and we love when we have, ya know, an audience. Come on and see us perform a show or two. There are many options that you can scan through to find the perfect thing for you and your pals to do.
