An HBCU and public land-grant university, Virginia State is the nation’s first fully state-supported university for black Americans. U.S News & World Report ranks VSU as #31 in Historically Black Colleges and Universities and #41 in Top Public Schools. The university has its own agricultural research center and 416-acre farm. VSU is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund with communications, physical education teaching, and criminal justice among the top majors.

Virginia State is one of the best H.B.C.U's in the state. The population at Virginia State allows you to get a personal relationship with the professors and the other students. The faculty here is great.
