Am learning a lot
Wichita State University has some of the best teachers and professors I have ever met. With very few exceptions I am able to understand all of them with acceptable to superb degrees, and all of them know their stuff much better than they would ever need to for what they are teaching.
Am enjoying being here
I love the atmosphere, the campus is huge and beautiful, the students are amazing and the organizations are absolutely wonderful if you get involved with them.
Bang for the buck
Wichita State University is NOT cheap, but neither is their services or what they offer. It is good money well spent for good outcome so long as you apply yourself.
Tips for prospective students
Work on your general education requirements in the fall and your major in the spring, take any other classes that you failed/dropped/need in the summer!
Great for these types of students
Students who like to study at school, who spend all day at school, who party occasionally and who like medium sized environments.

Am learning a lot
The education I have received throughout my time here at Wichita State has been great! I love all of the professors I have had in my classes and I greatly appreciate all they do for the school. Academically Wichita State is an amazing place to receive a college education.
Am enjoying being here
Although the education I am receiving is wonderful, the neighborhood where the school is located is not the best. I recommend never travelling alone and always having your cell phone on and charged if you are walking to or from classes in the dark. You will never be bored here though! There is so much to do on campus and throughout Wichita that there will never be a problem finding something to entertain you.
Bang for the buck
The tuition rates and room and board are very reasonable for the amount that you receive. The education as I have said is excellent and the dorms and on campus housing are very large and livable. Also the meal plans are very reasonably priced and the dining is all you can eat so there is no limit to the amount that you would like.
Tips for prospective students
I recommend that prospective students come to the campus and walk around and take tours of the different buildings on campus and the different housing options as well. I also recommend tasting the food offered in the dining hall before committing to the school. Also, prospective students should be sure to thoroughly examine the school to be sure this is the school they would like to attend.
Great for these types of students
Wichita State is great for students who are interested in sports and have a lot of school/team spirit. Wichita State is a very school-spirit oriented university. It is also great for students who like a diverse campus and a fast paced living environment as the school is located in a larger city.

Am learning a lot
I really like the classes I am taking. All of them teach me so much. The teachers try to do classwork that suits all different learners so that they all have a chance to learn. All of my teachers/ professors love answering questions that I have. I'm not afraid to speak up in class to either answer or ask questions or just to speak my mind.
Am enjoying being here
I love being on campus. The campus is always so clean and there is always something going on. Most of the people are very friendly and say hey as you walk by and smile. Everything here revolves around the student center. It's a fun place to go, lots of good food, and it's also where you can pick up some Shocker gear to show your pride.
Bang for the buck
The teachers are great and so are the facilities. It's deffinitely got more Bang for the buck!
Great for these types of students
Wichita State is great for any type of student. We have such a diverse student community that I find it amazing. We have all types of different ethnicities and religions and not just that, but all the students are different and unique in their own ways.

Wichita State University is a four year college that is placed within the ever-growing city of Wichita, Kansas. It has a great set of dorm rooms for oncoming freshman, but most students choose to commute since WSU is so close to everything. The best thing about WSU is the fact that they have a program that any student can join, and the school will set the student up to do real-life work in jobs they want to work in, they do all this before the student graduates.
Tips for prospective students
Tips for prospective students is to get an advisor that is within your intended major. If you don't know what you want to do, any advisor will do. But as soon as you figure out what you want to major in, change advisers accordingly. All advisers at WSU are good, but some might overlook something that is needed for your degree if they are not a professor within that major.
Academic Rigor
Most students will take no more than 12-15 hours a semester because they classes challenge everyone.
Dorm Life
We have multiple options for on-campus living. The quality of our dorms are pretty great.
Food and Dining
Wichita State University has great food. Our dining hall is always packed because the dorm cafeteria serves great food that feels like a home cooked meal. The student center offers a wide variety of fast food restaurants for students on the go.
What to do for fun
At Wichita State University, the student center is the place to be. There are always events like concerts, comedians, and magic shows going on. And if those events don't interest you, downstair in the student center there is a full size bowling alley that has a bar and pool!
Bang for the buck
Wichita State is at least half the cost of the two other four year universities in Kansas. All three school are very comparable in every way.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Traditions on Campus are events that Greek throw. Things like Hippodrome and Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.
Great for these types of students
Students who want to go to a four year university but don't want to leave the hometown feeling.
Campus Safety
Although our campus is located within a safe area, our campus is covered all over with emergency buttons.

I chose to attend Wichita State because of the quality of the Aerospace Engineering program. Plus I selected this university because of the opportunities to secure internships with local aerospace companies and gain hands on experiences through the Cooperative Education program with NASA.
Tips for prospective students
The faculty give you the feeling that they are interested in you as a person. Be sure to tour the campus. You should learn about the Living Learning Communities.
Academic Rigor
The requirements for admission and the aerospace engineering major are reasonable.
Dorm Life
Shocker Hall is terrific when compared to the dorm at other universities I toured.
Food and Dining
Food options in Shocker Hall are the best of all the universities I visited.
What to do for fun
Be sure to attend the basketball and baseball games.
Clubs and Activities
There are multiple organizations to select from. There are groups related to almost every major, community service interests, belief systems to name a few.
Greek Life
I don't have any interest in Greek Life.
Campus Safety
Since I am not on campus at this time I can't evaluate the issue of campus safety.

wichita state university is a college where you are not just a number. here, there are world-class engineering, business, and education opportunities. wichita state is all about making the college experience yours.
Tips for prospective students
be ready to study from day one. the professors will challenge you to do your very best, so being prepared from the get-go is a major factor in success.
Academic Rigor
some classes are easy, quite a few are designed to challenge you and make sure you are ready for the next level of classes.
Dorm Life
i love living on campus. there are 108 countries represented on campus and many of them can be found in the residence halls. i've met people from croatia, ukraine, india, the middle east, and africa. being close to campus makes going to the many on-campus activities easy and fun with large groups of people going to each event.
Food and Dining
the food is pretty good. there's always stalwarts like pizza and hamburgers, as well as some exotic dishes to make international students feel more comfortable here. there's a fresh salad bar, soup, cereal, and more. on campus, we have taco bell, pizza hut, the only chick-fil-a in wichita, and breakfast/yogurt joint called fastbreak, a blimpies sandwich shop, and greek and chinese food joints as well.
What to do for fun
we have all sorts of things to do on campus! there are 5 fraternities and 4 sororities with on-campus housing, as well as many greek honor organizations. the student government body, sga, allocates more than $8 million in student fees for multiple projects, such as our renevation of the student union. we have an activities council called sac that has multiple committees to come up with on-campus fun, such as gaming committee which organizes the humans vs zombies tag game to daytime distractions that organizes games and activities to do in between classes.
Bang for the buck
wichita state is easily the most affordable option in kansas for many. it is cheaper by nearly $8,000 per year to live on our campus than ku, ksu, and the other kansas universities. wsu hands out millions every year in scholarships. we have the 11th ranked business school in the nation, the barton school of business, and the 2nd highest-spending aerospace research college in the nation, the wallace school of engineering. nasa regularly recruits our engineers. for more info on that, visit www.wichita.edu and read the story about alex k! we have a co-op program that allows students to get experience in their chosen field as a paid employee and earn college credit. we place more people in that co-op program than the other state universities combined. we are in the hub of kansas aviation, education, and business and that allows us to have our massive co-op program.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
we have the first ever pizza hut on campus.

we have niar, the national institute of aeronautic research
Great for these types of students
students who are looking for a college experience that is affordable and respected. wichita state can be whatever you want it to be, commuter college to full-blown university experience.
Clubs and Activities
these are just some of them, there are far too many to name all of them.
sac - student activity council
sga - student government association
sas - student ambassador society
acs - american chemical society
young democrats, young republicans, college libertarians, college socialists.
shocker navigators - tour guides
psa - pre-medical student association
ppa - pre-pharmacy student association

many, many more besides, but these are some of the ones i'm involved with.
Greek Life
fraternaties: phi-delta-theta, sigma-phi-epsilon, beta-theta-pi, delta-upsilon, kappa-sigma.

sororities: delta-delta-delta, delta-gamma, alpha-phi, gamma-phi-beta
Campus Safety
wsu has 25 full-time police officers trained by the wpd. we also have campus emergency boxes with blue lights on top. they are stationed to be at least 2 within sight on almost any spot on campus, and officers respond within 2 minutes of the siren being hit. the officers also offer escort services for students with night classes who feel uncomfortable walking back to their car or residence hall. the officers will also provide free jumping for dead car batteries.

Am learning a lot
As I am International student, it really is a new and challenging learning experience as the education system in America is a lot more practical unlike the theory based education system back home.
Am enjoying being here
Its great! Great teachers, great friends, fun activities, what more could I ask for.
Bang for the buck
It really is a lot more expensive than I feel it should be as an international student pays at least 3 times more than a citizen, so I would not really rate it really good for the amount of money.
Tips for prospective students
I would encourage students to go to WSU, They are one of the best in Aerospace Engineering due to the presence of NIAR on campus. Their business school is also in the top league.
Great for these types of students
Great for any type of student!
