Founded in 1855, William Paterson University of New Jersey is a public institution in the suburban town of Wayne. WPUNJ is a designated military friendly school, as well as a residential institution. The university offers study abroad programs in Spain, Puerto Rico, India, Kenya, and more. William Paterson is a member of the New Jersey Higher Education Consortium on Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention and Education and requires all freshmen and new transfer students to take an alcohol prevention course called AlcoholEdu.
