Am learning a lot
Not only do you learn about your field of interest, but you also learn how to interact with so many different types of people. Winthrop is all about diversity!
Am enjoying being here
The cultural events that are held on campus are very enjoyable. You can learn from them and have a great time at the same time. Impossible? Nah!
Bang for the buck
At Winthrop, you will get your money's worth. the campus is beautiful, the facilities are outstanding, and the basketball/baseball/'whatever sport you're into' are free to attend!

I never thought I'd learn so much pursuing a Computer Science degree from a liberal arts college. The classes are small so you receive individual attention from teachers who really care, and are more than willing to meet with you after class to help you with anything.
Am enjoying being here
I have never had better relationships with teachers as I have had in my first two semesters here.
Bang for the buck
A teacher I had my first semester here said, Winthrop is like the beauty parlor of SC universities. You get private school attention for a public school price. It's a small school and the teacher to student ratio is very comforting.
Tips for prospective students
Get to know your advisor.
Great for these types of students
Prospective teachers, art majors, biology majors

Am learning a lot
I am truly learning a lot from being here. Had it not been for the professors, I don't think my experience would have been this easy. They are willing to help you one on one whenever you don't understand and they offer tutorial sessions when needed. They are so approachable and make you feel as though you are an integral part of the already diverse campus. The classes are not all easy, but after a few hours of studying, they become more fulfilling and enjoyable.
Am enjoying being here
I am really enjoying being here. If you are a student that prefers a smaller class setting, then this is the school for you. Here, at Winthrop, you are not just a face amongst the crowd. The intimate atmosphere of the school ensure that you get the type of one on one attention to may need. In order to get the really most out of going here, a car would be a tremendous help, but it is not necessary, because Winthrop provides on-campus events almost every weekend, so students will never be bored.
Bang for the buck
As for aesthetic value, Winthrop is definitely worth it! The historic construction of the buildings make you cherish the school even more. The campus is truly beautiful. If you ever get tired of cafeteria food, there are plenty of place near campus that suit your fancy. =)
Tips for prospective students
Try to make friends with almost everyone you meet, because the new faces may be the faces that make it far into your future.
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SPEAK IN CLASS!
Also, become close with your professor's, it will be a lot easier for you at the end of the semester. If they know you from the first day, then they monitor your progress a little more closely and it helps you stand out in class.
Great for these types of students
This school seems to be mainly based on those who want to go in to the teaching field. So if you think education is going to be your area of expertise, then Winthrop is definitely the choice you need to make.

Am learning a lot
At Winthrop I’m not only learning what I will need to know to be successful in my career one day, I’m learning about life, people, and myself. In dealing with my roommates I’ve learned how to handle conflict. From my professors, I’m learning that I have no limits, and I can go as far as I push myself. Even in my minor I am learning how talent, hard work, and commitment can get you where you want to go.
Am enjoying being here
I love being at Winthrop. The campus is beautiful, the students are driven and creative, and the faculty is incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to bettering their students.
Bang for the buck
Like I said, the professors are highly experienced, and in many cases acclaimed in their fields. Plus, the class sizes are small. As a student at Winthrop you get one on one attention from the best of the best.
Tips for prospective students
Talk to people. It's easy to make friends if you just talk to them, and professor's really appreciate students who speak up in class. Ask questions. Winthrop loves critical thinkers. When you have something to say, there is someone to listen.
Great for these types of students
Winthrop's classes are challenging, but they are completely worth it. If you are driven, excited about your future, and ready to work hard, we want you, and you'll do well here.

Am learning a lot
I am going into my 4th year and have learned an outstanding amount of information on anything and everything. My classes are intense and force you think outside the box. The teachers like to give a general guideline to the lecture and then have the students take it from there so that they make themselves think further than just what the text book has to say. My general course work has been great and has helped me become a better student in my own field of study. The education department here is fantastic. They really give you chance to be in the field and have the experience with teacher other than just the student teaching. The teachers in the department are always willing to help you learn more and understand more especially when it comes to helping you to learn to teach better.

Winthrop has a marvellous campus. The scenery is always in tip top shape. The people are so diverse and in both culture and education that you cannot help but to get into conversations with random people when waiting for your next class to start. Teachers are fantastic and always willing to make sure that students are learning. The school is not centered around sports which means that academics come first. Class sizes for the most part are small and gives a better opportunity for the students to learn better and have one on one time with the teachers.
Bang for the buck
For the education department you cannot get any better than Winthrop for money. Winthrop is rated as one of the leading South Eastern Teaching colleges and we can back it up. We get experience from day one in the classrooms of local schools with real teachers and students. As you become more established in the field and understanding of the education program you truly understand why Winthrop is rated so highly.
Tips for prospective students
Always do your reading assignments. Even if you do not talk about it in class does not mean you won't be tested on it. I had a proffessor that did lecture and never refered to anything in the book. I failed the first test because half the test came from the book. Also, learn how to bargain hunt for books. Either have a friend you has already had the class leaned you their book, become buddies with someone in the class, or do like I do and buy the edition before the one the teacher wants (unless it is a math class). Books relatively stay the same from edition to edition with statistics changing. If you have a previous edition you will be okay on the readings just get with a classmate to make sure all the statistics and terms are correct or have not been added too. Learn where quick spots to grab food are on campus between classes or carry lots of snacks to get you through until you can get a meal. You don't always have time to stop at the cafeteria for lunch before your next class. Don't waste your money at the vending machines either. Walgreen's is in walking distance (everyday I did this), go grab snacks and drinks there weekly or daily to carry with you during the day so your not wasting those much needed quarters at the ball game later that day.
Great for these types of students
Great for all students. We are a student body of almost all cultures and backgrounds. From the students alone, I have talked to me Arabic, Afghan, Asian, and many more (even someone from Egypt). We have so much fun debating topics from religion to what is on TV for children between classes you won't see each other for weeks but the next time you do you pick up right where you left off. ( I have been late to class because of these discussions).

The mistakes that I have made at Winthrop have helped me to grow and become a better college student.
Am enjoying being here
I enjoy being at Winthrop because the people are nice, the professors actually care and help students who are in need.
Bang for the buck
The money you pay to go to Winthrop is worth it if you are dedicated to your work and actually learn what the professors are trying to teach you.
Tips for prospective students
There are only 5 things you need to know to survive at Winthrop.
1: check your email, important things that a Winthrop students need to know are sent through email, so check your email daily
2: DO YOUR WORK!! I can't stress how important it is to do your work. It is so easy to get behind in classes because it is REALLY HARD to get back on track.
3: Get involved in extra curriculum activities on campus. Getting involved is more important than you think, when your grade point average is doing so well, you'll have extra curriculum activities to fall back on.
4: If you need help, don't be to afraid to ask your professors. Remember, NO QUESTION IS A DUMB QUESTION.
5: Try to get a job if you can, unless you have cash flow from somewhere else. Having money at Winthrop will help you tremendously.
If you follow these 5 simple rules you will be a succesful college student.
Great for these types of students
Winthrop is a great school for people who want to go into the education field.

Not only am I learning a lot from professors teaching my major, but professors teaching general education classes also have a way of drawing you in and making classes interesting so that you get the most of it!
Am enjoying being here
Winthrop is an amazing university. I actually started out at a different college and was not happy there and then switched to Winthrop. I am SO glad that I did!
Bang for the buck
The campus is absolutely gorgeous and it has everything you could possibly want. It has an amazing gym with all sorts of fitness equipment and rooms for various activities. It has a nice cafeteria and extra food court in Dinkins with a wide variety. We have a movie theater and lots of space outdoors for group activities or playful sports.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved in as much as possible because it gives you multiple opportunities to meet new people. This is going to be important because one you get to a new place it can feel quite lonely, but getting to know the people around you will make college life much more comfortable!
Great for these types of students
Winthrop is great for everyone!

School-wise Winthrop is a great school, they always have something to do. The dorm are clean and so are the bathrooms. The cafe and new DiGiorgio Campus Center adds to the list of things to do.
Bang for the buck
im very glad i choose this school because for the amount of money you pay its worth it. the school has a great rep that will follow you very where you go in south carolina.
Tips for prospective students
always carry cash with you because you will never know when you need it. and when you register for your second semester just wait until everyone else has finished, you will still get the classes you need. there's this thing called eagle express, kind of like a campus grocery store, when between the hours of 11 and 5 you can get a quick lunch when your in a hurry to class.
Great for these types of students
those who want to be able to study but like to party on rare occasions, its not far from charlotte for those who want to really have some fun on the weekends. also there are three clubs in rock hill that many winthrop students go to.

Am learning a lot
With smaller class sizes, I feel that I'm learning a lot and more efficiently that friends I know at larger Universities. Professors are always open to questions and constantly stress that their office are meant to give us the help that we need to succeed.
Great for these types of students
Winthrop Univeristy is great for the student who wants a smaller school and class size but still wants the amenities of a larger school! Movies on campus are only two dollars, the West Center offers equiptment and group workout classes that are fun for no fee, and theres always interesting and educational cultural events which can range from concerts to lectures. Theres always something interesting to do during the week, just remember you have to study too! Also theres great programs like the Writing center and Math lab where you can schedule appointments to get help from older students trained in tutoring. Theres so many opportunities for fun and success here, you just got to take them!
