Am learning a lot
As a freshman I am learning the real definition of time management. This is an important factor because you chose what time you want your classes to start and what time you want them to end. You don't want to pick a class and you over sleep and miss it.
Am enjoying being here
I love Chowan! When I came for orientation, they welcomed my mother and I with open arms! I knew this was the school for me!
Bang for the buck
A lot of kids here complain about the price, as long as you apply for scholarships, and do your financial aid, then you are okay.
Tips for prospective students
Enjoy your last year of high school! When you come to orientation here at Chowan ask all kinds of questions! They have faith in your future!
Great for these types of students
Students who want to get closer to God! This is the school for you!

Chowan University is a wonderful college environment. The school is based in a close-knit community and holds those values. You will feel very welcomed here at Chowan because the student body is very diverse and accepting to all.
Tips for prospective students
The best tips that I can give prospective students are:
1) Be prepared to have personal interaction with your professors. Unlike larger universities, Chowan is smaller so there are more opportunities to have one to one interactions.

2) You will definitely be able to get involved with student activities and even have the opportunity to start your own clubs and organizations. Do NOT be afraid to express you views and opinions! Chowan is accepting to all students.

3) College is a major life transition, you will make friends for life and build relationships that will last a lifetime. If I have learned anything from being in attendance at Chowan University, I know that stepping out of your comfort zone and not being afraid of who you are will enable you to conquer the college life!
Academic Rigor
Chowan University is known for their academic rigor. As a student here, I know that it is critically important to make sure you get your work done in time and on time. Our professors are more than willing to help with tutoring and giving extra learning availabilities for students. There is no favoritism at Chowan. Every student is given the same chance. Class sizes are not too large and there are so many choices when it comes to declaring a major or minor, your academic advisor will be there with you every step of the way to ensure that you make the choices that best suit you and your desired career.
Dorm Life
Dorm life at Chowan is definitely a great experience. The students at Chowan definitely know how to make the most of the time that we are given. Once you get in and settled in your dorm you will realize how important it is to have great residents on your hall. Here at Chowan, we look out for one another, we make sure that if you are in need of something and we have it, we will be willing to share. I believe the best way to describe dorm life at Chowan is like a huge family.
Food and Dining
The food at Chowan University is like no other. You will definitely have your fair share of good eating, healthy eating, whatever you desire. Our dining hall has various stations to serve your hunger cravings. We have a delicious pizza bar, a fantastic salad bar, we have a sub bar where you pick just about anything you want on your sub, we have a bagel bar that is available all day, a hot foods bar, and so much more! Tuesday's are Fried Chicken day, Thursday's are Quesadilla day, and there are always special meal event days. We also have an on campus grill called Murf's where you can get great hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, personal pizzas, anything you desire at no extra cost. There are also great restaurant's off campus within walking distance if you want a change of scenery. Let's just say that you can never get enough of the delicious food here.
What to do for fun
There are so many fun things to do at Chowan University. If you aren't attending an athletic event, we have student union building where you can play pool, Ping-Pong, Air hockey, video games, board games, and foosball. We also have special BINGO game nights where you can win great money or gift cards provided by the school. Tuesday and Friday nights are movie nights, where student life will show a recently released movie to the student body, there are so many things to get involved with here at Chowan.
Bang for the buck
I believe that Chowan is definitely worth the cost. A lot of people look at the cost of school and believe that they can not afford it, but the secret about Chowan is there are always scholarship opportunities. There are always ways for you to receive money from the school. If you utilize your resources there will always be a way, in the long run I believe that it is definitely worth the cost. Any higher education is worth the cost, because the ending benefits surpass the cost.
Campus Safety
Chowan University is definitely safe. Not only do we have great campus security, Chowan is graced with the city of Murfreesboro's police department there at any time of day or night. Chowan is a close-knit community so the members of the community are always ensuring the safety of the students, teachers, and staff. As a student at Chowan, I know for a fact that I have never felt unsafe here.
