While shadowing doctors and physician assistants, I was able to see nurses in many settings. All of the personnel that I visited with said that hands down, nurses coming from training at Covenant School of Nursing were much more qualified to walk into their positions and do a great job. The direct patient contact while having instructors involvement is invaluable.
Tips for prospective students
I would advise students who are applying to this school to work hard in their science pre-requisite courses. These are by far the most important courses in preparing for school. For this reason, these are the grades that are looked at the closest.
Academic Rigor
Covenant has an agressive program with intense coursework. This requires a high level of dedication. The great thing about this intensity is that it prepares students for what is to come in the clinical setting which allows students to be more quickly at ease as they begin their new careers.

Bang for the buck
Covenant is partnered with Lubbock Christian University so students can go from Covenant straight to Lubbock Christian University to receive their Bachelor's Degree. I actually plan to continue after that degree and get my Nurse Practitioner liscense with a Master's Degree and even possibly a Doctorate.
Great for these types of students
The student that I have met so far seem to be extremely friendly and dedicated to this new career. I cannot wait for school to begin in August.
Clubs and Activities
One thing that I do plan to get involved in as a nursing student is the fundraising drives for different disorders and diseases. This past week I took my children to Relay for Life and had a fantastic time. There was a group of nurses there and I feel like this is something that would really benefit my soul...to know that I was helping to make a difference.
Campus Safety
Safety seems to be of utmost importance. Students have to call the office with a push button and speak to the secretary in order to be beeped into the facility. Standard safety precautions are also taken very seriously and taught from day 1.
