Most news junkies have at least a small interest in international politics and agreements. If you're constantly following updates regarding trade agreements, treaties, and international conflict, an international law and legal studies major could fit your interests perfectly.

Majoring in international law and legal studies requires you to understand how countries and organizations across the globe are governed by international law. Courses often cover a country's rights and responsibilities, international communication, and negotiation. While classes will differ between universities, they'll also often review agricultural, civil, and tax laws.

This major is research oriented, and also requires practical work to fully understand the different aspects of international law. At some schools, students may also be expected to gain practical experience by interning for a law firm or international organization. After graduation, you could work as a lawyer for the U.S. government, an international organization, or nonprofit.
