Am learning a lot
Milligan is one of the best academic schools I have found. Out of 7 classes, 6 out of the 7 were taught by people who have a doctorate in their respective field. The professors will do whatever necessary to make sure that you understand the material that's being given, have the necessary skills/material to study appropriately for the exams, and are adjusting to your life at Milligan.
Am enjoying being here
There are ALWAYS things going on. Just in one semester, professors have had students over to their houses for dinner, there were campus-wide music events. Sports events happen 3 or 4 times a week, with student led events almost every weekend. There are 2 spiritual life events on Tuesdays/Thursdays, and always something to do, on or off campus.
Bang for the buck
In total honesty, this college is expensive. It's worth it, but it is expensive. Tuition is a little high, but if you consider that 9/10ths of your professors have their doctorate in their respective fields, it's good. The dorms are nice. They are set up suite-style. In one room would be you and your roommate, and then next door there would be 2 other people, and there is a bathroom that connects the two rooms. There are 3 girls dorms and 3 boys dorms. 2/3 of both are air conditioned. 1 of the girls and 2 of the boys are upperclassmen only dorms. The college is also in the midst of a Forward Ever campaign to improve the campus.
Tips for prospective students
Spend a couple of days at Milligan. Come for a Sunday, see what weekend life is like, and stay through Tuesday. Check out the different classes that are offered, see a Convocation (coming together) service on Tuesday morning, enjoy some meals and spend some time with the students. Call an admissions counselor at (423)-461-8700 OR go to www.milligan.edu for more information on how to get in touch with someone at Milligan.

I love Milligan, it is a unique small school opportunity with a close knit community of students and teachers. I've learned some great life tools and made lifelong friends.
Tips for prospective students
Milligan accepts a variety of students, apply for as many scholarships that you can because many scholarships are only available to people who apply when they come in. Make sure to buckle down your freshman year and don't blow off Bible or Humanities classes...it will come back to haunt you!
Academic Rigor
Milligan academics are very intensive but well worth it, their Humanities program is particularly challenging but rewarding.
Dorm Life
Nearly all Milligan Under Grad students are required to live on campus except in rare circumstance so most of your classmates live in the dorms with you.
Food and Dining
One of the pitfalls of a wonderful school, all students who live on campus are forced to be on the meal plan which is overprices and has very poor quality food.
What to do for fun
There is plenty to do with ETSU nearby, there are lots of college hangouts and restaurants open late, beautiful mountains to hike, lots of things in Johnson City which is about a ten minute drive. There is also a Dunkin' right down the road, a perfect study spot!
Bang for the buck
Milligan is very expensive...but to be expected from a private Liberal Arts college, the plus side is they do offer a lot of scholarships I think some where close to 90% of students receive some kind of financial aid.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Milligan has Wonderful Wednesday in the Spring where classes are cancelled on a random day and we get to partake in fun activities instead, best day of the year!
Great for these types of students
Milligan is a good experience for those who are looking for a calmer college experience, there is no drinking allowed and the dorms are not coed. It is a very unique small school environment.
Clubs and Activities
There are lots of different activities to get in on, you just have to put yourself out there. There is a Campus Activities Board where you can help plan students events, ISL a servant leadership organization where you can get a scholarship for helping in the community, there is Vespers a student led worship experience...there is a ton of things to join!
Greek Life
Pretty non-existent, the only things they have are for academic honors and they have Psi Chi for Psych majors.
Campus Safety
They have at least two Security Guards on duty every night that patrol the campus, I have never felt in danger at my school.

Milligan College cares about the future of each student, hence it's mission statement. Milligan College has a beautiful campus, including a beautiful view of the mountains. Milligan College has great chapel events.
Tips for prospective students
Prospective students come with the desire to learn and do not be afraid. The teachers are there to help you in anyway possible. Make sure you have money for the Grill for late nights studying. Be prepared for the hill, it can be exhausting. Be open to learn about different people and try new activites.
What to do for fun
There are occasional events, like concerts, over the weekend for people to go to. Also, the fitness center is fun, and it has a Wii. People can play volleyball, go to the gym, or get involved with community service or an organization.
Clubs and Activities
The yearbook, stompede, One7, and Habitat for Humanity are great organizations. Organizations that bring unity, friendships, growth, and joy.

I love Milligan! It is a great school academically. It needs more focus on spiritual life.
Tips for prospective students
Study, read every assignment for every class. Have fun but do not get caught up in everything going on on campus and off campus.
Academic Rigor
Milligan is a great school. The teachers are amazing! You will have to work though. The classes will be hard if you don't do the reading assignments.
Dorm Life
Dorm life is fun, but it can be frustrating. A dorm is like a household. You argue like family (or worse) at times, but you also have fun with the other people living there.
Food and Dining
Sometimes the food looks like it is uneatable but it is normally good and there is usually a variety.
What to do for fun
There are movie theaters, bowling allies, shopping centers, and skating rinks in Johnson City and Bristol. There are also shopping centers and a TON of nature activities in Elizabethton and Johnson City and surrounding areas. Milligan College has open mic nights and PLENTY of activities on campus every week such as sporting events, inter murals, music and art programs and exhibits, concerts, worship, etc.
Bang for the buck
The college is expensive but you get what you pay for... an amazing education with great people teaching and learning beside you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Creeking - when someone gets engaged they are ambushed and tossed in the creek on campus.
Great for these types of students
Academically focused
Artistic
Sporty
Spiritual/Christian
Clubs and Activities
You name it and Milligan probably has it (except american football)
Campus Safety
The campus security team is on the watch 24/7 and there are security/emergency lights and buttons all around campus.
