Payne Theological Seminary

Founded by the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Payne Theological Seminary is a Christian institution training students for ministry and the oldest African American seminary in the United States. Payne offers master’s degree and doctorate programs in Divinity and all classes are founded in the African American traditions of liberation, social justice, reconciliation, and dignity. The seminary campus is also home to the Bishop Vinton R. Anderson Ecumenical Institute, which holds lectures and workshops focusing on Christian perspectives regarding current social issues.
