Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

Jacqueline from Bartlett, IL
It is a small University but it helps you adjust to life away from home to campus life. You will make great friendships here at Saint Ambrose University.
Catherine from Davenport, IA
St. Ambrose is not the cheapest private university, but as one professor says, This isn't the Ivy League, but it's not the Little League either! The school offers a lot for a student who is serious about their education. They also have great facilities, including some of the nicest dorms around.
Brock from Davenport, IA
I think Ambrose is worth every penny it is well situated with within walking distance of at least two grocery stores, three pharmacies, five place to eat and a beautiful park just next door.
Jerricko from Davenport, IA
It's expensive, but I think nearly everyone recieves some kind of scholarship. The campus is great and the education is top notch.
Kelly from Mount Prospect, IL
st. ambrose tries to give as much financial aid as possible. it is a smaller university and does not have a lot of extra funds to throw around, however they do a reasonable job trying to stretch their resources as much as possible to help as many people as possible.
