Siena Heights is an amazing college! Out of the 3 choices I had I fell in love with this school. If you are looking for diverse, open, educational, and optimistic college, this one is for you.
Tips for prospective students
Be ready for what you may encounter, Be open; Closed mindedness will get you no where, and finally be open to make new friends and join clubs!
Academic Rigor
All teachers teach differently depending on their own personality. All of the teachers i have are concerned in your education and will help you if asked. Also, depending on what you may need help with, there are tons of specific clubs, rooms, and resources dedicated to helping you achieve your stay there!
Dorm Life
The rooms are very spacious, clean and heated in the winter. The only reason i will not give all 5 stars is because of how hot it gets when you get their in the fall, be sure to bring a fan!
Food and Dining
You cannot be a picky eater. There are so many food choices. The new student center just opened up and now includes a Mongolian BBQ, pizza bar, salad/soup bar, and two places to get the main course and try out different foods!
What to do for fun
Always join clubs, that's where most of your fun will come from since it's a very small town. Ann arbor and Toledo are within an hour away.

Siena Heights University is a private liberal arts institution that gets you ready for your field of practice and it helps you grow as an adult. Siena Heights is a private university so the professor's and staff make you feel like family and as loved as possible. Choosing to go to Siena Heights University was the best decision of my life.
Tips for prospective students
Come in open minded. Most people think that because it is a small school and in a small town there isn't anything to do, or you will not have fun but that isn't true. Siena Heights student engagement always has things for their students to do and Adrian is a 30-45 minute drive from Ann Arbor and Toledo.
Academic Rigor
Siena Heights is a liberal arts institution and it requires strong critical thinking skills and discipline. One advantage of going to a small university is the one on one relationships you develop with your professors and advisers. They are genuinely considered about our education and they push us to give 110% with everything.
Dorm Life
Living in the dorms are great. There's an option of single rooms, double room, and quads. If you choose to get a suit you will have a personal bathroom but if you do not get a suit you have to use the community bathrooms which get cleaned twice a day. There are also campus apartments you can move into after your sophomore year, but most upper class-man move off campus and get a house.
Food and Dining
There is our dining hall, Benicassa- Benni's for short. In Benni's there's a variety of food each day and that is where they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then there is the Sage Union where you can get snacks and chose from a variety of food such as, salads, tacos. pizza, subs etc.
What to do for fun
There's always something to do on campus between sports and the different student organizations you can't go wrong. Off campus there's the movies and going out to eat, plus Adrian College is around the corner and there is always something going on there as well.
Great for these types of students
Siena is great for everyone! They reach out to all personalities and they make sure that no one is left out. One great thing is if you feel like you are not apart of something you can start your own student organization and let your voice be heard.
Clubs and Activities
There are so many clubs and activities at Siena. We have so many groups you can join that will make you feel right at home and it is a great way to be involved with campus.
Campus Safety
Excellent! SHU tip are available through text messages and if there is any situation on campus they are there within two minutes!

Siena Heights is a great school if you are looking for a smaller location and still want to live on campus. The students are extremely involved and school spirited at sporting events and attend each other's games. It is a great community atmosphere and everyone is welcoming and friendly to each other.
Tips for prospective students
You want to make sure you have plenty of clothes for warm and cold weather because, depending on the day, the classrooms can be either extremely hot or cold. You want to make sure that you do all of your homework ahead of times because more than one assignment will be due on the same day. Also, Make sure that you study for exams, but if you need help their are study groups, and teachers can help you as well.
Academic Rigor
The classrooms can be a hard area depending on the courses you are taking, but teachers are willing to help outside of the classroom and you are always able to find someone in your class who will want to study with you. The tests you want to make sure you study for because they are not as easy as high school. Also, do your homework because that is easy points to earn.
Dorm Life
The dorms can be hot on some nights and cold on others. I would suggest bringing a fan and extra blankets. The students who live in the dorms are very nice and friendly. The RA's do a great job of putting events together for their hallways to bond; I would suggest going if you are able to.
Food and Dining
For the most part the food is good, but sometimes you want to have snacks in your dorm room in case you miss a meal. If you do not like the main meal being served there is always salad, bagels, cereal, soup, pizza, and french fries being offered as well. The drink selection is nice as well because there is a pepsi and coke machine, along with milk, water, and juice.
What to do for fun
There are plenty of school activities to attend during the week and generally a free t-shirt or food is available. Many of the students go and have fun bonding with each other. You are almost always able to go see a sporting event. There is a game room if you enjoy ping pong, air hockey, or pool. You are able to go to the field house and work out or play basketball with friends.
Bang for the buck
The school is a little on the expensive side, but they do a good job of helping students find scholarships to afford school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
We have a Mr. Husky tradition where the men on campus compete to see who is the best in their own little competition. It is an event you definitely do not want to miss. Your eyes will be filled with tears from laughter.
Great for these types of students
If you are one who wants to attend a smaller school this is just for you. Also if you are personable and enjoy spending time with people because you see the same people every day and tend to do things outside of the classroom with each other. Most of the students are athletes or in the acting side of school, so you will probably want to be involved with one of those because you will make plenty of friends right away.
Clubs and Activities
We have different clubs for each of the majors and they do activities pertaining to their majors to help out. There is a student senate and they put on the different activities for the students to participate in. There is always an event to attend during the week.
Greek Life
There is one fraternity for the boys and everyone involved is really close with each other and hangs out during the day and night. They are friendly people and nice to everyone on campus. There is one for the girls as well and it is not as broadcast-ed as the fraternity.
Campus Safety
There is a public safety and they are always sitting at the front desk and able to see who walks in and out of the dorms and campus village. If you do not look familiar to them then they will ask to see id to make sure you are a student or a friend staying on campus for the night. They go around at night and make sure all the parking lots are safe and that nothing unusual is happening. All the side doors are locked at night and you are only able to get in through the front doors so no strangers can come in at night. They are really friendly with the students and know you by your name, or at least your face. They also have cameras around the building so they can see what is happening.

Siena is a small campus, but a loving atmosphere. The teachers, other students, and staff want nothing but the best for the students attending. It is a great place to build connections that will last a lifetime!
Tips for prospective students
If you are looking for a small university that is very personable and about you, this is the place. The size is usually a turn-off, but the connections and friendships are worth while. Also teachers take the time to get to know their students, making a better learning environment.
Academic Rigor
The classes have been challenging but not anything that I couldn't get through. There are many resources in the library, writing center, math cave, and teachers with flexible hours that are always willing to help.
Dorm Life
Some people do not care for the dorms because they are older, but if you have a great roommate and an awesome R.A. (Resident Assistant) the dorms are a great place to be. There are constantly activities going on for students to partake in and meet new people.
Food and Dining
We have a full service cafeteria that is open everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff there is friendly and the food is very good. We have options for vegetarians and non-meat eaters. We also have the SAGE student union that offers food and snacks after cafe hours. In 2013 we will be having a new union and cafeteria built for students.
What to do for fun
The town of Adrian is very small, but in town we have local restaurants and skate rink. We are close to Adrian College that is always putting on events. Our director of Student Activities always have stuff planned on campus for the students to take part in such as; bowling trips, movie nights, Dj's, comedians. We are also very close to two major cities, Ann Arbor and Toledo (30-40 minutes).
Bang for the buck
Siena offers many scholarship options and the bang is worth the buck.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
The SAGE building and Ledwidge ballroom are cool hang out spots for the students to relax after a long day of studies and athletics. The Field house is also open to 10 p.m. allowing students to get into the weight room and gym. A tradition we have is to not step on the school seal located in the ground right outside of the field house. Students also have free admittance to games located at home at our facilities. Go Saints!
Great for these types of students
It is a great institute for all students if you are looking for a smaller university with a great education and amazing opportunities during and after college. The smaller atmosphere allows for students to build connections among each other and teachers. Everyone is very personable and looks out for you and your success.
Clubs and Activities
We have wide variety of clubs and activities for students to partake in from religious affiliate groups and cultural based groups. We also have public service groups that work in the school-based and town community.
Greek Life
We have one sorority on campus and one fraternity. Both groups are very active in student life and offer a great experience to build relationships, take part in anthropology projects, and be leaders in the school.
Campus Safety
We have a full staff for public safety. There is someone there 24/7, 365 days out of the year. They can be reached easily from the dorm rooms and are quick to get across campus. We are staffed with ex-military, criminal justice majors, police officers, and other well-trained employees.

In three sentences
Siena has a wonderful family atmosphere where you can have great relationships with peers and professors alike. This closeness with one another adds to the learning environment of the school because we aren't afraid to ask each other for help or share quirky little tricks to remember things. It is a beautiful campus filled with the loving and welcoming hearts of those around you.
Tips for prospective students
You will always have mentors here at Siena no matter what major you choose or what groups you are in. Use their knowledge and listen to their stories. You will learn so much from their experiences and they will be able to guide you in ways more than just academics; they are amazing and valuable resources.
Academic Rigor
The work here is challenging, but in a good way. It encourages and promotes a love of learning. It is pretty easy to get overwhelmed, so take it slow the first semester and then add on organizations and fun classes so you know how much you can handle at one time.
Dorm Life
I love my roommate. All of the residence life staff is wonderful and extremely helpful (especially if you lock yourself out!). The only downside is the community bathroom that can get really dirty if people don't clean up after themselves, but most of the time they do.
Food and Dining
Most days you can find something you like at the UC, some days you can't. I think the salad bar is always good, but on the weekends it is sparse unless there is an event going on.
What to do for fun
Groups on campus often host events including comedians, singers, jugglers, and my personal favorite, animal magic. There are tons of service opportunities to do with APO and the Habitat For Humanity chapter, as well as SHU Serves. Also, we have an amazing theater department that puts on fantastic shows. I have attended most, if not all, of the productions here and I have never been disappointed. In addition to that, we have a beautiful choir and band that has fantastic performances and concerts (the Christmas concert is my favorite).
Bang for the buck
You get a really good quality education here with faculty who really care about your education. They love it that you love to learn. I am well ahead in credits for my year because I keep on taking more classes just for fun or because I like the teacher and they ask me to be in their class.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
We celebrate Holi Fest which is an Indian tradition and we serve Indian food and drinks and we all line up for henna tattoos and then we do a color throw with white T-shirts on. Free food, free drinks, free tattoos, and free T-shirts. What could be better?
Great for these types of students
This school is great for people who consider themselves weird or nerdy, because we all are. It kind of adds to the family atmosphere around here that we are all crazy in our own unique way and we all love each others quirks. Also, we have a lot of athletes here. I am not an athlete, but I really enjoy sports and playing some pick up basketball with the athletes is pretty great.
Clubs and Activities
There are so many clubs that if you are interested in anything I bet there is a club for it. If there isn't, then you can start one. My friend actually just started a photography club on campus and it is going really well so far!
Greek Life
There are three main Greek Life groups on campus and then there is a couple for theater and social work. There is Alpha Phi Omega (a co-ed service fraternity), Phi Sigma Sigma (a sorority), and Pi Lambda Phi (a fraternity). APO does a lot for the community and the campus as a whole in terms of service and is a really fun group of people. The "Pi Lambs" are known for their "homeless for the homeless" event that they do every year where they sleep in front of the dorm building in boxes and accept donations of food, money and clothes to give to the local homeless shelter.
Campus Safety
All of the people who work for the Department of Public Safety are really approachable and knowledgeable. You can always count on them for help, whether it is getting into a locked building, looking for your lost ID, or consulting them on a more serious issue, they always have your back and are looking out for you.

Academic Rigor
The work is manageable if you keep on top of it. Professors do NOT accept late work. If you are struggling in a course the professors are there to help you.
Dorm Life
There is always something to do on campus, whether there is an event put on by an organization on campus, residence life, or friends. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The dorms themselves are typical dorms with the stereotypical wooden furniture, but they can be easily made comfortable and homey.
Food and Dining
The food here is the typical food you would find most places. They recently moved the cafeteria to a new location and the quality is the same if not slightly worse. Sometimes they add too much butter or oil to the food though. But some days certain foods can be great. It's kind of hit or miss.
Clubs and Activities
There are many clubs on campus! There is at least one that will appeal to each student.
Greek Life
There is one social sorority and one social fraternity on campus. But there is also a service fraternity on campus, as well as academic fraternities pertaining to your major.
Campus Safety
Campus safety is great! There is always someone around the clock. If you don't feel comfortable walking from the parking lot to the dorms, all you have to do is call and they will send someone to escort you back safely.
