Founded shortly after the Civil War, Simmons College of Kentucky is an Historically Black College and Kentucky’s first post-secondary institution for African American citizens. As a Christian college, Simmons’ Department of Religious Studies features courses on African American spiritual and philosophical traditions. Simmons offers bachelor’s degrees in five academic programs and associate degrees in Religious and General Studies. The college also features a community service requirement for all students and its Christian Service Program provides supervisors for all service projects.
