Founded in 1696, St John’s College in Maryland is a private, liberal arts college located in the city of Annapolis. Despite its name, the college has no religious affiliation. The college is best known for its Great Books curriculum, which provides students with a four-year reading list and widely discussion-based classes. Students at St John’s do not have a major, with each qualifying undergraduate receives a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. To complement the content of daily classes, special lectures are given on campus every Friday night by faculty and visiting guests.
