Am learning a lot
Despite what many people say about the teachers at this University, I truly believe that I have received a quality education here thus far :)
Am enjoying being here
This campus isn't all too exciting as far as student life goes. There aren't too many organizations to join and the ones that ARE on campus, aren't very exciting. The dorms aren't very appealing and there really isn't much around campus except for a downtown area.
Bang for the buck
Considering that tuition isn't all that expensive in comparison to other colleges in Texas, it saddens me to say that yes. You do get your money's worth!
Tips for prospective students
I would advise prospective students to just enjoy the time they have on campus. UTB is very relaxed and everyone gets along with everyone else here. It's not unpleasant.
Great for these types of students
Anyone who wants to get away from a hectic city environment and is looking for a more calm and passive atmosphere will probably enjoy this more than everyone else :)

excellent teachers and advisers always willing to help. If you are looking for cultural diversity this is the right place. UTB is a very active university there are several events going on every day and a lot of clubs to enroll.
Tips for prospective students
Do not be afraid of college, it is a new way of living and learning but you are not alone. On the way you will have the support of teachers and staff who would always cheer you up.
Academic Rigor
very strict when it comes to attendence
Dorm Life
nice, very comfortable rooms.
Food and Dining
The university is place right in the middle of restaurants so you have lots of options plus is next to downtown.
What to do for fun
Go to the gym, downtown, to the park, plus there are events going on on campus so sometimes you wont even have to go out.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
charro's day!!! a beautiful celebration in honor of the friendship between Mexico and USA. We have parade for 3 days and people dress like Mexicans. People sell Mexican food and at night everybody goes to the carnival.

This University is more of a commute school, kinda like a high school. It does have wonderful professors, clubs, degrees, and help for students. It is a good college to get your feet wet and then transfer to another college.
Tips for prospective students
Keep your GPA in check! Always seek an advisor to make sure your on the right track. Join a club and attend the school workshops and events.
Academic Rigor
It has not been difficult in my opinion so far. What makes classes difficult is if you aren't prepared, never show up for class, or expected it to be like high school. My basics have been alright but taking advance courses will be difficult.
Dorm Life
I do not live in the dorms but I have heard that they are very nice. They just built a new building which has a pool and its gated. The dorms are mostly suits; living room, kitchen, two to three bedrooms, and a patio.
Food and Dining
We don't have that much of a dinning hall but our little dinner has a great variety. . It serves desserts, pizza, salads, tacos, hamburgers, and it even has specials on certain days of the week. The setting is very nice, you can sit outside or indoors and there are pool tables.
What to do for fun
There is a movie theater in town which is at the mall, and a bowling alley. We are ten to twenty minutes away from South Padre Island which has the beach. South Padre Island is also the second place to go to for spring break.
Bang for the buck
I guess it depends on how much you go out like clubbing, bars, or shopping in general. The city is one of the poorest in the nation so I am gonna say not that much.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There aren't any unusual tradition or locations on campus. However, our campus was Fort Brown which is known to be haunted. There are ghost tours on the campus and they say that the art building is haunted. The art building was where they kept the prisoners so you can hear the chains drag on the floor.
Great for these types of students
The university of great for all types of students. We have students from diffrent parts of the world who attend because the are from our soccer, golf, track and field, and volleyball team.
Clubs and Activities
There is a club for everything and everyone and if not then you can start one with five dollars.
Greek Life
Our Greek life has just started so it not that well known yet. I heard that the people who do participate in it do enjoy it.
Campus Safety
Although we are at the border of Mexico. I believe we have awesome campus security, there is a call post in every direction, and a police station near by.

The University Of Texas at Brownsville is a great option for anyone who is still undecided to where to continue their education. Whit a great variety of degrees there should be one right for you. And also the culture of being next to Mexico makes our institution one of the best to attend.
Tips for prospective students
Do things on time. Make sure to take all the exams required in each of the institutions your planning to attend. And once inside do every assignment before the deadline.
Academic Rigor
It is strict in some way but you can still do most of the things other colleges offer.
Dorm Life
Excellent new dorms, that's all I have to say.
Food and Dining
There is not many options on campus but restaurants nearby are excellent. Having from local businesses to large corporations like McDonald, wing-stop, among others. So there is a large variety of food nearby.
What to do for fun
What I do for fun, is hang out with my friends and spend time with my girlfriend. There are a lot of activities on campus however because of my schedule some times I am unable to attend. But nevertheless this university has great student life.

The tuition is quite low compared to many other universities
Tips for prospective students
Get to know as many people as you can on campus, it will help both in your classes and outside of class
