Located a few miles from the Gulf of Maine, the University of Maine at Machias is a liberal arts college and a regional campus in the UM system. UM Machias is home to eleven 4-year majors including programs in Marine Biology and Recreation and Tourism Management that utilize the university’s location along coastal Maine. For recreation, UM Machias provides access to forest trails adjacent to campus and the Atlantic Ocean is a 15 minute drive away. Because of its unique location, UM Machias is the first American university to see the sun rise every morning.
