It is a very welcoming community. All of the professors, instructors, and various staff are always so nice and are always a big help. All of the students are friendly and it is so easy to make new friends.
Tips for prospective students
Always stay on top of your assignments, deadlines come sooner than later. Get to know your professors and gain a personal relationship with them; this will help out with many opportunities including work. Make friends and reach out to people, having connections can help out when something is needed.
Academic Rigor
There is writing all across the board. I like that because it broadens your ideas about what you think and feel about a certain topic. It also refines your writing skills.
Dorm Life
Living with a roommate can be scary at first, but become friends with your roommate. Get to know them to see how they are like. Once you are friends, there is a level of comfort and you will enjoy being in their company.
Food and Dining
There is always such good food that served to students. It's so easy to move around to get what you need, and the service is quick to keep lines moving. The food is always hot, unless it doesn't need to be and the dining hours are very reasonable for everyone's schedules.
What to do for fun
There is a beach volleyball court always available for everyone to use, along with a gym that has FREE service to students. There a lot of clubs and organizations to get involved in, and some are even related to many majors that are offered at the University of Mount Olive. A lot of the students go to Goldsboro to go to the malls and movies and just go out to have a fun time.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There is an annual Thanksgiving Day dinner in which the staff serves the students food.
Campus Safety
Campus safety is very easy to get along with. They are always patrolling the campus to make sure everything is in order and to ensure everyone's safety.

University of Mount Olive is a small, diverse college. It has students of many ethnicity and religious background. If you're looking to be at a great university with a small setting, the University of Mount Olive is the place to be. We are a close net student body at this University and you'll never feel alone here.
Tips for prospective students
Keep your grades up in high school even before entering your senior year. Study for your SAT and ACT. If you already taken those exams and feel that you could get a better score please retake those exams.
Academic Rigor
The academic rigor here is challenging where you are expected to perform to the best of your ability and more. All depending on your major, some classes are going to be moderate and others can be very challenging.
Dorm Life
They make an effort to match students with people with like interest so you can have a fun and pleasant experience. Its living on your own and being a responsible young adult. We also have dorm activities that help everyone get involve and get to know each other in the dorm. Fun, fun, fun.
Food and Dining
The café is a great place to dine. You have a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its also a place to meet up with your friends to plan your day. The food is very good and when parents or friends that do not attend University of Mount Olive come to visit, they can dine there also for a small fee.
What to do for fun
The school sporting events on campus is exciting. We also have Bingo night on Thursdays and prizes are given.
Great for these types of students
Students who are intimidated by very huge colleges/Universities, this would be the college to apply for. The classes are small and the teacher/student ratio is not that big depending on the class.
Clubs and Activities
I am involved with CAB (College Activities Board). We plan activities on campus and make improvements on activities that were already done. New ideas are always welcome.
Greek Life
There is no Greek life on campus but it wouldn't hurt to start academic Greek life. That is left for discussion.
Campus Safety
Campus safety is great. They are present at all times.
