I recommend everyone to visit the online website and get engaged with everything about academics and admissions. The online website is www.urprm.edu. There is all the information you need to contact the administration. You can search both undergraduate and graduate catalogs to explore the majors offered sou you can have a complete idea of what you can expect. Don't stay with doubts. On campus there is a lot of people that would be pleased to help you and make your freshmen experience so unique.
From my heart to yours...

For students thinking on applying to the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, it is most important that you have an excellent GPA, raging from 3.5 to 4.0 (in a 4.0 scale). It is also important that to have great College Board or SAT scores (especially Mathematics). It is good to have extracurricular activities like community service or participating in organizations. Finally, it is very helpful if you play any kind of instrument, have experience in choir or participate in a athletic team.
