The first school chartered after the American Revolution, Washington College is a 4-year liberal arts college on Maryland’s eastern shore. Washington grants bachelor’s degrees in 34 academic fields of study and all students are required to complete four writing experiences, culminating in a Senior Capstone Experience. Located along the shores of the Chester River, Washington’s River and Field Campus functions as an outdoor ecological lab for students and faculty. The college is named for George Washington who also served on its original Board of Visitors and Governors.
Washington College is the perfect college for a student who is looking for a small, close-knit community. Professors and peers truly care and help one another strive for their greatest accomplishments. However, a person who is accustomed to an urban life-style may have trouble getting adjusted to the rural, small town atmosphere in Chestertown.

Washington College is a fun, clean, interesting place to attend. The professor/student ratio allows for almost personalized classes. Overall, a wonderful school.
