Am learning a lot
I am a health science major and are taking core classes and some science classes. WJU has a set of core classes that every student has to take. For example, psychology, philosophy, religion, history, math, and science.
Am enjoying being here
I enjoy going to Wheeling Jesuit University. It gives students a great round perspective on many different things. There are cultural activities, service activities, athletic activities, retreats, volunteering, dances, planned trips, and so much more. The school encourages students to stay on campus on the weekends. The Jesuit tradition is a part of this school and they hope to encourage students to take part in it.
Bang for the buck
WJU gives out a lot of money if you have good grades and have a good ACT/SAT score. They also give some money if you are from a Catholic high school.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure that you like a small school. I don't know everyone by name but I at least know of them. It has a pretty campus and you can walk everywhere. It is about a seven minute walk through campus. It has intramural sports and is now starting a new JV team program for many sports, like baseball and basketball. The academics can be challenging but I have learned a lot since I have been attending WJU. I like most of my professors. They care about each student and want to help them as much as they can. There is very few people that live off campus. Most people live in the dorms all four years.
Great for these types of students
Small town school
Athletes
Want to have a lot of friends
Dorm Room living
Religious Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunities
Different cultural experiences

Wheeling Jesuit is a wonderful institution that offers a variety of possibilities for shaping ones future. Small class sizes offer a more personalized learning experience. Likewise, the staff is pleasent and willing to help.
Tips for prospective students
Check out the website: wju.edu/cardinal
Academic Rigor
Varies from program to program and from teacher to teacher, but as a whole the school strives for academic excellence. The science and health care fields are particularly rigorous.
Dorm Life
Some of the buildings are nicer while some are somewhat old. Freshman dorms tend to be communal. Many upperclassmen dorms have private bathrooms.
Food and Dining
For a small campus, the variety is great. The quality is great as well.
What to do for fun
Dances are held weekly, and other events are held regularly. There are also many things to do in the area.
Bang for the buck
Though the school's size means individualized learning, it also leads to a lack of some programs.
Likewise, while the academics are rigorous and there are many activities to take part in during one's free time, the expenses of the school are somewhat high. However, Jesuit is generous with scholarships, particularly if you did well on your ACT/SAT.
Clubs and Activities
Many different clubs are available, from service and leadership clubs, like Circle K, to clubs pertaining to majors and intended careers.

The environment is great, with a small classroom atmosphere. Most of the students are very involved and the professors are interested in the success and well-being of the students. Financial aid is given to almost all students, but the school is still expensive and academically challenging.
Tips for prospective students
For prospective students, you should try and become involved in as many clubs and activities as you can. There are many service related opportunities, as well as extracurricular activities. Make as many connections as you can and do not be afraid to ask your professors for help.
Academic Rigor
The academics at this liberal arts school is very competitive and challenging so be prepared for your core courses, as well as your major courses.
Dorm Life
Dorm life is awesome, you're going to want to keep your doors open your freshman year so that you can meet as many people as possible and make the connections that will last throughout your academic career at Wheeling Jesuit.
Food and Dining
The food in the Benedum room is not the greatest, but they do try to make it enjoyable with a salad bar, pizza cooked in a brick oven everyday, a sandwich bar, along with the main entrees, and the access to get a burger and fries for many meals. There is breakfast, lunch, and dinner offered Monday through Friday, and brunch and dinner offered on Saturday and Sunday.
What to do for fun
There are sporting events that happen weekly that students are eligible to attend. Also all students have access to the indoor, in-ground pool, indoor and outdoor tracks, basketball courts, and gym filled with weights and multiple cardio options. There is also the option to walk or drive downtown or go to the highlands or ohio valley mall to go shopping or go to the parks around the area. There are normally plenty of things to do on the weekends, such as live entertainment in the Ratt, the on campus bar, every Friday and themed dances in the Ratt on many Saturdays.
Bang for the buck
While the academics is rigorous and there is normally many activities to participate in, the expenses of the school are quite high and many students must work to afford it, even with many scholarships.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There is a last blast end of the year celebration every year that entails creating rafts to race down the creek that is behind the school and participate in many other activities to celebrate the end of the year. Also at the end of all the school dances the song Country Roads is played and all the students sing along to show pride for the school they go to located in Wheeling, Wes Virginia.
Clubs and Activities
There are an abundance of clubs and activities and every person can find something that suits their interest. Many people find multiple clubs and activities that suit their interests!
Greek Life
There is no Greek Life, but there has been talk of trying to start it up.
Campus Safety
The campus is completely safe with security guards on the clock 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The campus is sort of secluded from the city of Wheeling and is like its own different place among the city.

WJU is a small University (not a college) that is extremely focused on sports, having almost every student involved in one, but that still is demanding enough to give you the feel of decent academic standards. Depending on where you are living life could be quite different nevertheless the cafeteria is usually criticized (most of times it is unfairly done), and the campus is pretty great in general. The main issues with WJU are that there is nothing to do in Wheeling (has kind of the look of an abandoned city sometimes), that because it is too small it is easy to get tired of hanging out with the same people (the feel of a high school), and that the university cares mostly about incoming students more than the already enrolled ones.
Tips for prospective students
There is never enough research that can be done to decide on something as important as your education.
What to do for fun
It literally is what you make of it. Every couple of weeks there's karaoke and party at the Ratt (University Bar). Also, there are usually a lot of sport games and other activities.
Great for these types of students
Athletes, academic-driven students, international students, people from the area.
Campus Safety
It used to be really safe but there are still a couple of events every once in a while.
