Awards Available Late in Scholarship Season
As the school year winds down, the time to apply for scholarships is, too. Take a look at these scholarships that are available late in the season.
Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes – Students who demonstrate leadership and courage in developing a service project are eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must be nominated by an adult who has an understanding of their project. Applications are due April 15. The scholarship award amount is $5,000.
A Place for Mom Senior Care Innovation Scholarship – This scholarship is for students who are pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s or graduate-level degree in a medical nursing or social sciences related major and planning on a career that involves working with senior citizens. The scholarship award amount is $1,000 and applications are due April 15.
Ayn Rand "Atlas Shrugged" Essay Contest – Applicants must submit an essay on Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. Applications are due April 28. The scholarship award amount ranges between $50 and $20,000.
Prevent Texting and Driving Scholarship – Share a text message guide on how to keep your friends safer while driving to be considered for this $5,000 scholarship. Applications are due April 30.
Ruth Lily Poetry Fellowships – Young poets interested pursuing writing are eligible for this scholarship. The award amount for this scholarship is $25,800. Applications are due April 30.
StudySoup Future Innovator Scholarship – This scholarship is for students who exemplify one or more of StudySoup's core values: Be a Knight, Make an Impact or Succeed Together. Applications are due May 1. The award amount for this scholarship is $2,000.
RCJudge Scholarship – This scholarship is for undergraduate students. Applicants must create a 700 to 1000 word essay on how the technology for remote control toys will change in the future. The award amount is $1,000. The deadline for this scholarship is May 21.
Why My Teacher Makes Me Smile Flax Scholarship – This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors from a Georgia high school who are in good academic standing and on-track to apply for accredited post-high school/post-secondary educational programs (including accredited two- and four-year college, universities, vocational-technical and trade schools) pending receipt of a high school diploma. The deadline for this scholarship is May 29. The award amount is $1,000.
AWeber Developing Futures Scholarship – This scholarship is for undergraduate students who are studying in the business, marketing and communications fields. Applicants must be enrolled at a college or university for the fall semester of the 2017-2018 school year. An essay or video submission is required. See its website for guidelines. The scholarship award amount is $2,500. The scholarship deadline is May 31.
Emily Woodward Scholarship – This scholarship is for students enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational institution by the time the winner of the annual scholarship is announced in July 2017. Applicants must be enrolling full-time or part time and submit an essay. The award amount for this scholarship is $2,000. The scholarship deadline is May 31.
Merchants Exchange of Portland Scholarship – This scholarship is for students who are currently enrolled in a two- or four-year institutional degree program with maritime affairs and/or international trade (or a closely related field) as their chosen field of study. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate academic ability and qualities in personal character that exemplify their drive to obtain their educational goals, reside in the United States, and be US citizens. The scholarship deadline is May 31. The award amount for this scholarship is $2,000.
