You know how easy it is to nickel-and-dime yourself until you realize you don’t have any cash left in your wallet — let’s talk about doing that, but in reverse to pay for postsecondary education! We all know that prices for schooling have gotten a tad bit out of hand, so we here at Cappex have collected our most all-encompassing scholarships (some with some hefty rewards!) to help you get ahead of student debt.

 

As you’re applying for multiple scholarships (which we 100% recommend), just keep in mind that every wad of cash you collect is a few less payments you have to make — and we haven’t even said a word about interest yet! Let’s not make this a true horror story. Anyway, dig on into this list of scholarships expiring in February 2018. Make a list of the ones you’re qualified to apply for and get your rear in gear! Postsecondary education doesn’t have to leave you with a ton of debt — it’s just a matter of making the system work for you!

Scholar Serve Award

Award: $3,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for college and graduate students who apply their knowledge to serving others in their communities. Recipients of the award will also be matched to mentors who assist with their service initiatives and provide career guidance.

 

Lockheed Martin Corporation Scholarship

Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for women who are college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering; have a 3.2 GPA; and be enrolled full-time. Recipients will also receive a travel stipend to the SWE annual conference.

 

Nellie Love Butcher Music Scholarship

Award: $5,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for music students who are pursuing an education in piano or voice. Special consideration shall be given to students currently attending the Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. A performance CD must be submitted with the application; see website for details.

 

Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship

Award: $5,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors with a minimum 4.0 GPA. Applicants must be US citizens and attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States. This scholarship is awarded based on academic merit.

 

DAR American Indian Scholarship

Award: $4,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for American Indians of any age, from any tribe, and in any state, who are pursuing an education at the undergraduate or graduate level. To qualify, applicants must provide proof of their American Indian heritage, demonstrate financial need, and have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Preference will be given to undergraduate students. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and academic achievement.

 

Arsham Amirikian Engineering Scholarship

Award: $2,500

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who are pursuing a minimum four-year bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a welding-related degree. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, be at least 18 years of age, have at least a high school diploma, demonstrate financial need, be attending a US academic institution, and be US citizens.

 

Edward J. Brady Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,500

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for full- and part-time college undergraduates who are pursuing at least a four-year bachelor's degree in welding engineering or welding technology - priority will be given to welding engineering students. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have a 2.5 GPA, be at least 18 years of age, have at least a high school diploma, demonstrate financial need, be attending a US academic institution, and be US citizens.

 

Praxair International Scholarship

Award: $2,500

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for full-time college undergraduates who are pursuing at least a four-year bachelor's degree in welding engineering or welding engineering technology - priority will be given to welding engineering students. See website for complete information.

 

Arthur Lockwood Beneventi Law Scholarship

Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students who are either enrolled in or attending an accredited law school. To qualify, applicants must have a 3.25 GPA.

 

Mary Elizabeth Lockwood Beneventi MBA Scholarship

Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students attending graduate school full-time in an accredited college or university. To qualify, applicants must be majoring in business administration and have a minimum 3.25 GPA.

 

William Robert Findley Graduate Chemistry Scholarship

Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students attending graduate school full-time at an accredited college or university and majoring in chemistry.

 

DAR Centennial Scholarship

Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for outstanding students who are pursuing a course of graduate study in the field of historic preservation at a college or university in the United States.

 

James A. Turner, Jr., Memorial Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for full-time students pursuing a four-year bachelor's degree in business that will lead to a management career in welding store operations or a welding distributorship. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be employed at least 10 hours a week at a welding distributorship at the time of application submission. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma.


 

Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Deadline: February 15th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students who are accepted and enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and demonstrate financial need.

 

Autism Award

Award: $1,000

Deadline: February 27th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and plan to continue their education at a university, college, junior college, or trade or vocational school. Applicants are asked to submit a statement describing their educational goals. Students may also submit an optional statement explaining how ASD or autism has impacted their education.



 

LAGRANT Foundation Scholarship

Award: $3,250

Deadline: February 28th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for African Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, American Indians, and Alaska Natives who are current college graduate students. To qualify, applicants must be full-time students majoring in a field of study that has an emphasis on public relations, marketing, or advertising; or they must minor in communications with a desire to pursue a career in public relations, marketing, or advertising. Applicants must have a minimum of two academic semesters left to complete their degree and have a minimum 3.2 GPA.

 

Lewis W. Newlan Award

Award: $2,500

Deadline: February 28th, 2018

Description: RCI Foundation wants to help students flourish, especially those working towards a degree in architecture, engineering, construction, or a building science postsecondary program. This $2,500 scholarship is here to assist: fill out the online application, submit your transcript, and provide two letters of recommendation from an instructor, counselor, or supervisor, etc. Please also include a copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 or T1 General (black out all sensitive information). Robert W. Lyons Award

Award: $5,000

Western Reserve Herb Society Horticulture Scholarship

Award: $7,500

Description: This scholarship is for college students who plan to pursue a career in horticulture or a related field. Applicants must have completed their sophomore year of undergraduate study, have a GPA of at least 3.2, and demonstrate dedication to horticulture as well as financial need. ABO Scholarship

Award: Up to $30,000

Deadline: February 28th, 2018

Description: Africa is a content that's ripe with economic opportunities; it's just a matter of tapping into them. ABO Capital wants a 500-word essay showcasing your own ideas about tapping into its economic potential, or your input into ongoing projects. Grand prize is a scholarship for one full semester of college, up to 30k! Applicants must be enrolled in college to apply for this scholarship.


 

LAGRANT Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 28th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for African Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, American Indians, and Alaska Natives who are current college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors. To qualify, applicants must be full-time students majoring in a field of study that has an emphasis on public relations, marketing, or advertising; or they must minor in communications with a desire to pursue a career in public relations, marketing, or advertising. Applicants must have at least one year to complete their degree from the time the scholarships are awarded and have a minimum 2.75 GPA.

 

LiveCareer College Scholarship

Award: $1,500

Deadline: February 28th, 2018

Description: To apply for this scholarship, students must write a 200 to 800-word essay on the given prompt. Essays must NOT: have been previously published, have won previous awards, or infringe on any third-party rights.
