The Fashion Institute of Technology is part of the SUNY system and focuses on different aspects of the fashion industry, ranging from design to mass communication. FIT offers non-credit courses, including from basic through advanced sewing classes, in addition to their degree programs. It is home to the Museum at FIT whose permanent collection includes thousands of garments and accessories from the 18th century to present day. The most popular majors are fashion & apparel merchandising, fashion & apparel design, and advertising.
