Founded in 1962 using a grant from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Institute of American Indian Arts is a tribal college focusing on Native American artwork. Alongside bachelor degrees in creative programs like Studio Arts and Creative Writing, the IAIA also offers an associate’s degree in Native American Studies and a certificate in Native American Art History. Student art is displayed at the Balzer Contemporary Edge Gallery and the campus is also home to The IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, the only museum in America dedicated entirely to collecting and displaying modern Native artwork.
The college is far the city life and is very quiet and peaceful. It's a great place to make friendship with Native people and share their culture and tradition. Excellent place to learn contemporary and Native arts.

I am a return student to IAIA to receive my bachelors degree in museum studies. So far my experience has been extremely fulfilling and I have gained a huge amount of knowledge just within my first semester here. I recommend this unique institution to all who are interested in the arts!
