Founded in 1858 as Bluemont Central College, Kansas State University is a 4-year public institution in northeast Kansas. K-State hosts 11 colleges and schools conferring bachelor’s degrees in over 250 academic majors. In addition, the Kansas State campus houses the Biosecurity Research Institute for infectious disease research. For students interested in the performing arts, K-State features three theaters and over 150 musical performances each year.
