Airline/Commercial/Professional Pilot and Flight Crew

Flying high among the clouds is a thrilling experience for some of us. Those who truly love flying may consider becoming an airline/commercial/professional pilot and flight crew major. A program in airline/commercial/professional pilot and flight crew prepares students to apply technical knowledge and skills to the flying and navigation of commercial passenger, cargo, agricultural, corporate, and rescue aircraft. The curriculum for this major generally includes instruction in the principles of aircraft design and performance, aircraft flight systems and controls, flight crew operations and procedures, radio communications, navigation procedures and systems, airways safety and traffic regulations, and governmental rules and regulations pertaining to piloting aircraft. Courses are held in a number of settings, including a typical classroom, a flight simulator, or a real plane. Career opportunities exist in a number of areas for individuals holding a degree in airline/commercial/professional pilot and flight crew. Some graduates work as flight crew members, airline pilots, commercial pilots, or flight instructors.
