Think you have it takes to have a career in medicine? If you have an aptitude for natural sciences and math, you may thrive in this field. Whether you become a generalist, a specialist, teach, or conduct research, the world of medicine offers unlimited opportunities and a fulfilling career. Before you enter medical school, you'll need to earn an undergraduate degree and take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). After being admitted, you'll study subjects like genetics, advanced anatomy, psysiology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, and neuroscience, among many others. After learning the basics, you'll have to decide on a specialty and determine where you'll complete your residency. This will give you expert-level knowledge in your specialty and allow you to get more familiar working with patients. Upon completion of your studies, you'll need to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination. You must have this license to practice medicine.
