University Scorpion Scholars Scholarship Program

Scholarship Description
Graduate top 10% of your class from a high school located in the Rio Grande Valley. The Rio Grande Valley consists of the following counties, Cameron, Willacy, Hidalgo, and Starr. Must be eligible to take college level courses (no developmental). To receive the USS Scholarship, students must be exempt from taking a Texas Success Initiative exam (TSI) or pass all portions of a TSI exam or achieve minimum scores on ACT or SAT. Financial need not required, but student must apply for federal and state financial aid no later than March 1st, every year. Must pursue an associates or bachelors degree program at UTB/TSC. Must begin classes at UTB/TSC no later than fall term immediately after high school graduation. Exceptions will be made to prior commitments with a US Military organization. Students must be exempt from taking a Texas Success Initiative exam (TSI) or pass all portions of a TSI exam or achieve minimum scores on ACT or SAT. Applicants must be entering freshmen, enrolled at least 15 hours, and have a 3.0 GPA.
