Scholarship Overview

The CL Smith Scholarship Fund was established to honor Lieutenant Colonel Clarence L. Smith USMC (Ret.). Lt. Col. Smith was the first instructor of the Marine Corps Junior ROTC program at Fern Creek Traditional High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He was instrumental in building the program from its founding to a national accredited unit. In doing so, he established a standard based upon the principals of loyalty, integrity and discipline. This scholarship has been created to encourage and reward those who exemplify these same qualities and values.
