This program is for Mississippi students who wish to become classroom teachers in a Mississippi Teacher Critical Shortage Area or Subject Area after completion of an alternative route certification program. To qualify, applicants must be seeking a first bachelor's degree and plan to enroll in a program of study leading to an alternative route teacher license immediately after completing bachelor's degree. Applicants must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA, have at least junior status at one of Mississippi's four-year institutions, and be enrolled for at least six credit hours. Applicants must also have earned passing scores on the Praxis I Basic Skills Test. Applications are available from January 1st through March 31st.
