This scholarship is for students in North Carolina who are Vietnam veterans or are the spouse or direct descendent of a Vietnam veteran. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must live in Wake, Durham, Harnett, Johnston, Franklin, Nash, Chatham, or Granville County and be pursuing undergraduate study at a college, junior college, community college, or trade school. The residency requirement is waived for current members of NCVVI who live in North Carolina. Students who have attended and completed the "Lessons of Vietnam" elective which is part of the "Recent International Relations" class may also apply. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit an essay on why the transition from Vietnam to the United States was so difficult for many veterans and continues to be challenging to this day.
