Scholarship Overview

This scholarship was created in 2002 by Melvin Plumley in memory of his son, Joseph M. Plumley, who died in 2002 at the age of 35. The net income from this fund is to be paid to a student from the Hinton area, including Summers County and adjoining areas of Raleigh, Monroe, Greenbrier, and Fayette counties. The scholarship can be paid out for any worthy scholastic purpose, including, but not limited to, a college education. It will be awarded on the basis of need. The fund is administered by the Hinton Area Foundation with the advice of the Hinton Rotary Club.
